2 slices of a cake and mini pie - $30! I could buy 2 full cakes in Berlin for that. And everywhere “suggested tip 18%” this is a store - the service I got is nothing extraordinary to tip for.
I got home and tasted the Black Forest - it’s traditional but too much Kirsch! - I tossed that The Hahdough tart - was bland, the whipped cream completely washed out any flavors - so the only thing I tasted was fat and sugar. The apple pie - oh dear, where do I even start? The shell was so tough I couldn’t pierce it with a fork! The apples were raw. No cinnamon no speculaas where are the spices?

Read moreOn a good day, this place is a 5, on a bad day it’s a 2. Beautiful croissant pretzels- they’re croissant-y on the outside and the pretzel flavor and texture hits you mid chew. We get one every time and haven’t been disappointed yet. Pretzels are a different story. In general they are good, but Sunday mornings they are stale and left over. I come here to support small business in my neighborhood, but it makes me very sad that this place seems to be run with such minimal pride. A little dirty, empty shelves and day old pastries is pretty lame for a shop that genuinely makes some of the best croissants...

However, she had already closed the register and closed the blinds. She lied to me that they were closed and that all the cake on display was „reserved“ [sic]. 2 almost full cakes and another 5 individual pieces. I know that preordered cake is in the large separate fridge. Also, the door was clearly open. Hence they were not closed. It takes me one hour to get to this place and I used to love it.
