2025 update. After many visits, Jenny's Burger gets the Jeff H. Best Burger in the Sunset award. I love the flavor of their charbroiled patties, so juicy, perfectly cooked and not greasy. With the self-serve burger condiments bar, the customization is almost endless. Well done everyone at Jenny's Burger.
Original review: You know, I've been staring at Matt Y. (a Yelp all-star)'s cheeseburger photos from Jenny's Burgers come through my feed for over a year now. I'm trying to figure out why he keeps coming here. If I'm in this part of town, I usually eat at Pacific Catch or the taco places. I ordered an 8oz cheeseburger $9.50 along with onion rings $5.25. They cook the burger on a self-rotating grill which makes the burgers cook more evenly. There's a similar spinning grill at Mo's Grill in North Beach on Grant Ave. The secret to Jenny's Burgers is their self-serve toppings station. I'm a huge fan of raw onions and two slices of tomatoes on my burgers. They use the more expensive leaf lettuce and also available are shredded lettuce. There's also a big sized pepper shaker that I liked with all the mayo and pink aioli to put on the bun. This was a very good burger. Good job team at...
Read moreVisited on a slow Friday afternoon. Great walking distance from Golden Gate Park area near Cal Academy of Science. When I entered the restaurant, it took a few minutes to get the attention of the owners, but that's understandable during non-peak hours. I ordered a #1: burger with choice of cheese, fries, and a drink. The burger was a 6oz. single patty, and got a decent amount of fries, but I was surprised by the 12oz cup for my drink. I didn't see any signage on their refill policy. I would have asked, but as soon as the chef slid my tray in front of the toppings station, I was alone in the front if the store again.
The burger was cooked to my liking (medium), and the fries were delicious! Nice and crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside, with the right amount if seasoning. The toppings bar had many build your own staples: onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and a few favorites like jalapeños and banana peppers.
Food was 4 star, service was 3 which ultimately determined my 3 star rating. It's okay for a quick...
Read moreGreat price, located just by Golden Gate park. Don't let the small size fool you, this may be one of the best burgers I've ever had in California. It's not overly fancy, but it makes up for it with pure quality cooked to order burgers. My dad is pretty picky about how his meat is cooked, and it passed his threshold, and that's a high endorsement.
The last time I was here I hadn't been in the city for a couple years, and I was worried that they had gone out of business because pretty much every other store on the street had been replaced by something else.
Fortunately, they're still around, despite my initial fears.
One of the highlights is the condiment bar, which is nice because I am fanatical about pickles on a burger and most places don't give enough for my tastes, so I was able to...
