Wow, I can't contain my excitement about this fantastic dining experience we just had at Kabuto! It's the kind of place that may not have fancy decorations or an over-the-top ambiance, but let me tell you, the food stole the show!
When it comes to sushi and rolls, Kabuto knows how to impress. We were blown away by the incredible flavors and creativity on display. One piece of advice: make sure to ask your friendly waitress what's fresh that day. We lucked out and got to savor the delectable copper salmon sushi, a special treat that was only available for a limited time. It's those unique finds that make dining here truly special.
Now, let's talk about the sushi itself. Each piece came in a set of two, and oh boy, were they heavenly! The toro tartare and hamachi pear were absolute standouts, bursting with mouthwatering goodness. The combination of flavors was simply divine, leaving us wanting more with every bite.
But that's not all—the fired salmon roll was an absolute masterpiece. Cooked to perfection, it had a tantalizing crunch that added a delightful texture to the melt-in-your-mouth salmon. It was like a symphony of flavors dancing on our tongues!
Kabuto may be a no-frills restaurant, but it's the kind of place where the food takes center stage and leaves you in awe. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this culinary gem. So grab your friends, head over to Kabuto, and get ready for an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you craving...
Read moreThis my favorite sushi restaurant outside of Japan. There are some great sushi experiences in the Bay Area, but here are the reasons I keep coming back to Kabuto:
It's first and foremost a neighborhood restaurant. While the fish is elevated and sublime, you see lots of families here and locals stopping in to grab a seat at the sushi bar. It reminds me of favorite places in Tokyo.
You can get all your standard rolls here and they are excellent versions of your go-to orders at your local place.
The Omakase menu is sensational. The new version of the menu offers many more nigiri choices than the old one (though I miss the inclusion of the ceviche and hamachi pear in this update). The only thing I did not enjoy was the wagyu dumpling.
The staff is friendly and attentive. The only issue o have with service is the restaurant can get loud at times and the servers can be quiet, so it can be hard to hear the description of what they are bringing you.
In all, my favorite sushi in...
Read moreI think Kabuto is the best sushi restaurant in the city. They have got the traditional nigiri and sushi rolls, but also offer fusion/innovative creations (usually on their special menu). The menu is extensive and may seem overwhelming, so no matter how many times we have been to Kabuto, we always ask the waitress for her recommendations and the specials for the day. The sushi’s always fresh, nicely presented, and each serving plate always comes with a couple pieces of cranberries. Not sure about the logic behind the cranberries, but I love them :)
In addition to sushi and nigiri, Kabuto also make great cooked Japanese food! Actually, I think Kabuto’s udon is the best in San Francisco. Totally hit the spot on a nice foggy day. Their cod’s super tender; melt in your mouth delicious. We have tried many things on their menu and can say we loved them all! The restaurant can get busy at night, so call ahead for reservation...
