I ordered Le Toulouse sandwich which has duck, figs, arugula and cheese from Spain’s sheep’s milk. Got their macarons as well! They had run out of their usual bread, and used a different kind of sandwich bread for the Toulouse. Still, both were really delicious—with a very surprisingly good mesh of flavours for the former, and the macarons being not overly sweet.
The only issue I have with the place lies in customer service. When I signalled that I was ready to order, the servers though nice—lagged in their response to me. It seemed they were more interested in their own conversation rather than putting their customer first. So despite not having anyone ahead of me, I had to wait longer than usual just to order.
Even though I would have loved to return and try a different sandwich, this kind of service left a slightly bad taste in my mouth, thus, less likely of an urge to come back....
Read moreVery good sammiches with great fresh ingredients. Reasonable prices for downtown SF. Surprisingly fast. The line can get long and look long, but I ordered and settled in for a wait, but hear my name about a minute after I ordered. I wish they offered toasting for their regular sammiches rather than only for the grilled cheese because they only have one grilled cheese special per day, and sometimes it just won’t float one’s boat. Limited bev options—Perrier, flat water, coke and Diet Coke, and a few beers seemed to be about it, along with lots of bottles of wine. They sell a few packages of desserts and such, and cheeses from the case, along with the prepared foods. Friendly and efficient staff. They take cards. Tax se me to be included in the listed prices. Would be nice if one could mix and match and design one’s Ken meal, but it would surely reduce...
Read moreDon't be turned away from the technical title, this place is way more than a cheese shop. Don't get me wrong, the cheese is amazing, but it also serves a mean lunch. My personal favorite is the La Mancha salad, which is a Kale base with candied figs, apples, manchego cheese, a light dressing, and thinly sliced duck. They also have bomb sandwiches, my favorite is The Italian (burrata cheese), that comes with a side salad of La Mancha, but without the duck.
The interior has one shared table with high stools, and a few small tables out front. I wouldn't suggest sitting out front as it feels more of a walkaway then a front patio. Typically I see people taking to go, as I do.
Seems to be fairly priced for San Francisco, as La Mancha is 10.99 and...
