Semi-friendly staff, lots of outlets, and liked the complimentary water station. Bathroom is dim, mirrorless, and smells weird (only one, single stall). Another pro is that this place is open when most other places in SF are closed. Cons: went here at a tour guide’s suggestion. It wasn’t even meh it was bleghhh. Like if 1 on the scale is inedible this is just a step above. The sauce ratio? Nonexistent. Dry, sad base. The cheese? Not even a blend. Borders on flavorless and congealed super quick despite being made to order. The toppings? Water-logged thick tomato slices and stuff that looks and feels as if it came directly out of a can. Peppers sliced with the ends still on. Slices cut unevenly and presentation-wise, not a pretty pizza either. Dough is tragic. Nothing distinctively NY about it — it’s not thin crust or foldable. Idk how to describe this but where the pizza base ends on any pizza it sort of gives way to a fluffier, different-tasting crust… this pizza does not do that. Baffled as to why the ratings are so high. It made me sad to eat this pizza and I only finished my slices because they were so ridiculously expensive...
Read moreThis review is only for the happy hour which runs from 4-6 pm M-F as I've only been here a couple of times during happy hour. This has to be the cheapest happy hour deal in FiDi. You can get a slice of peperoni or cheese pizza and a drink for $6 with tax.
Their pizza is the New York style hand tossed thin crust pizza. To my surprise I found that it is really close to the original, but only when it is freshly made. I get a slice only if I see a new pie laid out as the reheated variety is not good. During happy hour they have a steady flow of new pies so most times I've managed to get a slice. There aren't too many choices for the beer. You can get a larger (Anchor Steam), pilsner or IPA (Racer 5). I generally get the IPA even though I'm not a fan of Racer 5. Service is hit or miss as I've found very friendly servers and completely standoffish ones here.
All things considered the freshly made pizza's here are good and comparable to the original. Happy hour is definitely good value for money while service can improve. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 is how I'd...
Read moreI came to pick up the pizza about 10 minutes early. There are two TVs and some dining space. This location on Bush Street is in the Financial District near the Dragon Gate at Grant Street. There is also a Hilton nearby.
This pizza is not overly heavy or greasy. It's rather light, but not cracker thin. A pleasant chew. Pepperoni, sausage, green bell pepper, onion, and cheese. Excellent distribution of toppings and not overly messy to eat.
My pickup order was promptly and courteously delivered. It would be nice to have some pleasant company, but the restaurant doesn't provide that. Everyone should know that. No comprehensive social work case management offered.
Should one assume all these needs should be everywhere met? Businesses don't provide that service. Proper venue and proper people to have your needs met.
Restaurants are ostensibly where you buy food you don't want to fix for yourself when you splurge. The rest of...
