TL;DR All I can say is I cannot wait to try their other dishes! AMAZING service, new and inviting food, very modern and gorgeous atmosphere.
After a long day at work, my partner and I needed to get some clothes (and I loathe shopping) so reluctantly joined and we shopped around. I had not realized how many new shops popped up and which ones closed so, after walking around looking for a snack, we saw Le Soleil and I realized it was new.
Not realizing it was the soft opening, we asked for the menu and the hostess was extremely kind and happy to share the menu with us and others. They mentioned they would be closing in 10 minutes but could do take out and it sounded so delicious we agreed (and maybe sit at the foot court). After scanning the menu, the hostess let us know we could actually eat in and we felt very appreciative for that.
Staff/service: The server, manager and owner (I wish I got their names!) were hospitable, generous, attentive, enthusiastic about their dishes and so informative when we had questions.
Food: The chicken lollipops were so yummy. The aioli that is paired with it is a little took heavy for my palette but it has great flavor - simply a texture preference but im sure many love it!
Quail is a new food for me but it comes as an appetizer ($13!) and flambéed table side. For the prize, I believe the prep and size are reasonable.
I have recently been introduced to a variety of seafood as I have always been too scared to either waste a quality ingredient or my money but this seaweed salad! Not fishy, very refreshing and the plum(?) sauce with it is great. I would come and eat this easily for dinner on a very hot night after a beach day.
Lastly, the pho risotto. I was craving soup today and didn’t entertain the other choices in the food court but this dish stood out. It’s rich, creamy, sweet and the tender meat on top was easy enough for me to rip off with my chopsticks. The risotto is nice and velvety but the flavor of the meat is what really brings out the pho flavor.
Thank you for the generosity and cannot...
Read moreAdding an upscale vibe to the mall, Stonestown gets a beautiful addition with Le Soleil. A place you can go to avoid the mall rats, noisy teens, college kids and have a quieter experience and good food.
We loved going to the Clement St location and thrilled when we heard Le Soleil was coming to the mall. We came here after they first opened so expected they would have some kinks as many places experience when they first open. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful space and beautiful decor. It felt like an oasis in the midst of the bustling mall.
I met my mom and sister who were already seated. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, which had some interesting interpretations on traditional dishes like pho risotto-great depth of flavor and portioned more like a starter, very rich and unique.
I had the vegetarian fresh spring rolls which were delicious. The squab was flambés tabled side but not my thing so I passed on it, it looked underwhelming because it wasn’t accompanied by anything, so I guess I thought it looked lonely on the plate. My sister liked it.
The fried branzino was wonderful though I would ask for the sauce on the side as it felt a bit too much on the fish. There’s also another sauce that comes with it ( a ginger sauce which I prefer) This was my favorite dish. Very well presented and delicious.
There were vegetarian dishes I wanted to try but we ordered a lot of food so I’ll have to come back which I plan to do soon. The carpaccio-style beef dish was very flavorful and a great starter.
Overall I think this is a wonderful place to have a more relaxed experience during a day at the mall. I think the service could flow a bit better and I believe it will improve as they refine their system.
The proprietors have been around for a long time and have honored the flavors of Vietnamese cuisine while infusing some interesting flavors without being too much.
Price point is more than you’d find in the food court but worth it...
Read moreTraveling to SF, I stopped by Stone Town Mall to grab something to eat before heading to the airport. It’s a busy mall with a lot going on, especially on the weekend. I found a Vietnamese restaurant there that’s not your typical spot—it’s Vietnamese food with a twist.
The vibe was comfortable, the service was super friendly, and the staff was knowledgeable and attentive. They recommended some unique dishes, and I’m glad we tried them. • Pho Risotto – A Vietnamese-European fusion that really works. I’ve had a lot of risotto, and this one was excellent. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the rib meat just melted in your mouth. • Squid Fried Rice – I was skeptical at first because of the dark color, but it was delicious. Definitely a “don’t judge a book by its cover” moment. • Drunken Clams – Loved the aroma from the herbs and the flavor was spot on. • Seaweed Salad & Miso Butter Mushrooms – Great vegetarian options. • Whole Branzino – Crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside. A standout dish. • Lollipop Chicken – Soooo good I could’ve eaten two orders. Super tender and full of flavor.
I hope they can improve the noodles , I love garlic but not as impress as I thought.
Overall, the food wasn’t too salty, and you could really taste the traditional Vietnamese herbs that brought out the aroma and flavor. The menu is on the smaller side, but every dish we tried was executed perfectly. The staff mentioned they’ll be adding more dishes soon—can’t wait to come back and try them! BTW We didn’t took all the pictures so good we...
