The matcha ice cream is great, I like the strong matcha flavor, however we had a really bad experience. In short: they gave us melted ice creams and didn’t want to remake them. And they said it’s our fault (because we ordered shaved ice which took them too long to make) that’s why we got melted ice creams. They were really rude.

Me and my friends ordered three items: one soft serve, one matcha float (with matcha soft serve) and one matcha shaved ice. They made our soft serve and matcha float right away and left them on the counter while making the shaved ice. Someone in front of us also ordered a shaved ice, so it took them about 10 min to finish making our shaved ice. We waited patiently, and we can clearly tell the soft serves were already melt on the countertop. Surprisingly they handed the melted soft serves and shaved ice to us. We asked the person to remake the soft serves, and she remade the matcha float. However, the person who seems like to be their manager was not happy about the decision. The manager asked her why she remade the order, and decided to hand the newly made matcha float and the melted matcha soft serve to us. I can’t believe any ice cream shop would give their customers a melted ice cream in the summer. I gently asked the manager if she can redo my soft serve, she said well it was melted because you guys ordered the shaved ice. I just can’t believe what she said - sounds like it’s my fault, because I ordered something that took them too long to make? Shouldn’t they either give us the soft services first, or make the shaved ice first and then make soft serves??? Ultimately the manager made a new soft serve but she said she will never remake orders in future. She gave the new soft serve to me without saying a word, even though I still said than you to her. This is my worst experience ever at any...

I've been going to the Japantown location for years, and now the Chinatown and Stonestown locations if I'm in the area. Stonestown is the most convenient location because there's mall parking.

I usually go with a matcha/hojicha tea latte or matcha float depending on the mood, and Maiko consistently has the best balance of matcha sand creaminess to it. I still liked it back then when they used to have a "less creamy" option where the matcha was a bit stronger, but no more. Still, I always tell others that Matcha Cafe Maiko is my standard in the Bay Area. They really ought to have a rewards system! Esp since prices have increased the past few years.

So if you follow them on IG they will announce their "flavor of the month" and for this September, it's Thai Tea and Black Tea! I've been waiting for this all year since having the thai tea soft serve last year. I repeat! THAI TEA soft serve is awesome! Maiko staff, please read this and serve it more than once...

Worst experience ever! Came over today after dinner with my 7 year old for a soft serve ice cream. Gave them a $2 tip and asked for an extra empty cone for my child. Nancy the server first messed up the order by preparing the wrong ice cream. After she redid the order and I have asked for the extra cone, she was asking for another $1. I told her that I already gave a tip of $2. She kept arguing with me over the $1. I ended up throwing the ice cream into the garbage and getting a refund! Will never come to this place anymore and don't recommend to come here for the sake of your own sanity! Avoid as...

There are 2 other locations I believe in SF, chinatown and japantown. Although this is the most convenient for me, and still providing the utmost matcha quality and variety, the service is sometimes slow, and inefficient. Nevertheless, it is one of my favorite drink and ice cream places throughout this mall, it it's just one of the few that adds to the abundent amount of asian cuisine and footraffic within Stonestown.

All that glitters is GOLD! 🥇⚜️⭐️ I drove up to San Francisco to get “The Golden Sho-Gun”, a 24K Golden Matcha soft served ice cream. I felt so luxurious in every bite of it. The ice cream is legit, you can really taste the matcha. The waffle was fresh made and very crisp to the bite. Definitely worth getting for $10. PS, if your wondering my poop was golden!
