Went in for a late night meal around midnight. Sign said it closed at 1 am. Was met with ambiguity in whether I would be served in house or not. If you say you're open until 1 am, you're open until 1 am regardless. Ordered two half orders of spaghetti to go as a last resort. Not two blocks away from the store, the flimsy paper bag broke because the sauce from the pasta started leaking and because the heat of the containers was unbearable to hold. Complete fault on the business for such poor transport material for "to go." Went back and explained the situation to the restaurant and was met with a patronizing, condescending, and superfluous talk on how to hold a bag. Was still given spaghetti to replace my loss. This time the utmost care was taken to handle the bag and the sauce started leaking again from the aluminum foil plastic covered bowls. It leaked over all my clothes and was completely unacceptable on the restaurant for using materials that wouldn't hold and get hot very easily. Ignoring all these and finally eating the pasta, it was very poor. Watery sauce that left soury after taste in your mouth. Noodles slightly undercooked. Not worth the hassle at all. This could have all been avoided if I was allowed to eat in house as I had assumed based on store hours. This is a very niche experience, and their pizza might be great, but from this experience alone, I will never be coming back here or recommending it to friends. It's how a restaurant handles difficult situations like this that can determine their worth and this place has...
Read moreWow! I can't say enough about this restaurant. Located just a few blocks from Golden Gate Park it was a nice walk even on a rainy evening. I was drawn in by the smell of delicious brick oven baked pizza (which I could see being made on the counter near the entrance as I walked in). The pizzas were huge and they do not hold back on the quantity of toppings. A regular customer was in line and after learning I was from out of town promptly recommended several items - most of which were not pizza related (surprised at first but not anymore). I ended up going with the ribeye and fried prawn dinner combo with veggies and pasta. I'm pretty sure they make their own pastas and sauces in-house. I also ordered some cheesy garlic bread since I wasn't going to be trying the pizza on this trip. 2 words.... A Mazing! The ribeye was huge and the prawns were even bigger than I imagined. The steak was packed with flavor. Although I don't eat the fatty parts of meat by choice I did chew on the fat and sucked as much of the flavorful juice out as I could. It was that good! I washed it down with a can of coke and a bottle of water from the fridge at Pasquale's. But I do have to admit I ate a piece of the garlic bread before my Uber driver arrived to take me back to the hotel. There was so much food I had to save the rest of the garlic cheese bread for the following day. For those that care: they were very concerned about covid-19 social distancing requirements/recommendations so rest assured they are doing their part too. I can't wait to try this...
Read moreWe were visiting San Francisco for the first time, and this place was near where we were staying. We had previously been downtown in Little Italy, but due to not finding parking we decided to head back down to the area to get dinner instead. What a fortunate turn of events for us. We were all craving some homemade, simple, REALLY good Italian food.
Two of us are vegetarian, so it was a pleasant surprise to see so many options on their menu.
One of us ordered the meat lasagna, and they give you a huge slab of it. It was perfect according to the one who ate it. Exactly what he'd been craving all day! Another of us ordered the eggplant sandwich. According to her, it was also excellent!
I ordered the eggplant parmesan, which came with penne pasta with marinara sauce, and steamed veggies. The portion of eggplant was generous, cheesy, tomato-y, and all around delicious. I easily could have had leftovers, but I opted to eat the whole thing because...who wants to deal with leftovers on vacation?
Also, they serve you fresh sourdough Italian bread. We did order some garlic bread with pesto, which was already amazing in itself. But the bread that they do give you is that kind of special bread that is perfectly toasty, and they give you that really good cold butter in gold wrapping.
If I had any criticism, I wish there were more restaurants like this back home in my town!
Thank you for the experience, we look forward to visiting again...
