After coming back from London, I really wanted to have afternoon tea with my friends for my birthday. It was important to me that the location have clotted cream. I found this place and loved how it looked. The prices were worth it. I made a reservation through their website. It is highly recommended to make a reservation. It seems they only serve during certain times as we did see some groups be turned away. There were a few tables, but it was very nice inside.
We were a group of five, but we all did the deluxe afternoon tea set. It isn't stated, but you are able to choose from two type of sandwiches that are cut into three pieces (so six pieces total). I wish we knew this first since we would have been able to share the different type of sandwiches. Unfortunately, I don't recall which teas we chose, but all three were really tasty. I was disappointed in the amount of cream they gave. I understand that it may be an allotted amount per serving dish, but it was still a very small amount given.
Overall, the experience was great! I was a bit worried that you can only request a reservation time and it will be confirmed later on. While they did confirm fairly quickly, I wish their scheduling system would block out unavailable times. The snacks and tea were really tasty and all the dining ware was beautiful. I was a bit disappointed in the cream portions as it was definitely not enough for all the food. The menu is a bit confusing as well. I would love to come back again soon, but will probably only come for a...
Read moreWonderful afternoon tea experience right next to Golden Gate park! The only downside is parking, which is nonexistent on weekends. I had reserved a 1pm seating on a Saturday. You do have to pay in full ahead of time, including tip, which I'm generally not a fan of tipping prior to receiving any service. We arrived 30 minutes late as we spent 25 mins looking for parking and 15 mins walking over. Luckily the staff were accommodating and allowed us to stay until closing rather than rushing us out the door after our 1.5 hour seating time was up.
After selecting our teas, china rose petal and green jasmine, they set out a plate of delicious baked sausage rolls. We were then served the 3 tier tray, which includes 4 sandwiches, small salad, a traditional and coconut scone with lemon curd, clotted cream, and jam, and a dessert tray 3 small treats and fresh fruit.
The scones were the highlight! Light, flaky, and perfect with the lemon curd and clotted cream. Their Hawaiian sandwich was a surprise as well along with the parfait dessert. We unfortunately weren't fans of the cookie, which...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 1:30 for 3 people. The staff were really nice and welcoming. However this experience was really different than other afternoon teas…we weren’t able to select which pastries and sandwiches we wanted. I’ve been going to afternoon tea for the past 10 years and I’ve always given a menu of options to choose from. Additionally, the tea was served with a tea bag which flavors were not as vibrant as loose leaf tea. The whole experience felt very rushed. We didn’t have enough time to even finish one pot of tea.. The staff kept meandering around and kept watching over our table from behind the counter. Our reservation was at 1:30 and they closed at 3. We weren’t served our food until 2, giving us only an hour. On top of that, the pastries were hard and stale. Additionally, the sandwiches were very small and dry from lacking sufficient filling. The environment was cute and warm, but we payed too much for the experience we had. At $50 per person, it felt like I could’ve prepared a better tea...
