Incredible sushi!
I am super critical about my food choices - especially sushi. It's truly my comfort food after a long day or when I want to relax so choosing the perfect place is important. I always fear that the sushi quality may not be fresh or the rolls that the restaurant makes are way too saucy and not appetizing but Sushi Chef blew my expectations out of the water.
I went with the Lion King roll and the Rainbow roll both of which were 10/10. Disclaimer: I am celiac so choosing gluten-free rolls is very important. I called the restaurant to ask for what substitutions I should make and the lady that answered was SO kind and so helpful. She informed me that I should go ahead and order anything I'd like and the chef will ensure that there's no gluten. They even packed a special container of gluten-free soy sauce and spicy mayo.

Read moreThis was my first visit to the restaurant and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is what I would call swanky modern, almost jazzy, which gives you a hint that you're about to experience something new. I ordered two sushi rolls instead of the traditional nigirizushi. The first was the Sunflower created with fresh salmon, perfectly flavored unagi, and hints of snow crab, mango, and tobiko. The salmon melts in your mouth the instant it hits your palate with a burst of complemenary flavors. It was a visceral experience that will delight you to the core. The second roll was the Lion King. This is a baked roll topped with salmon and filled with snow crab and avocado. Careful, the roll is temperature hot, and the flavor pure fire. I normally include pictures with my reviews, but I couldn't help myself diving right into this culinary delight. I will return to include the visual experience as the presentation matches...
Read moreCould’ve sworn this was a ramen joint back in the days.. it’s now a nice little sushi spot in Chinatown. We really need more sushi options out here, but this is a pretty solid option if you’re ever in the neighborhood AND not craving Chinese food.
We went straight for their omakase $68 for 10pcs. The omakase comes with uni and wagyu nigiri (really would suck if they don’t offer at least uni tbh). Great presentation especially the little “Sushi Chef” engraving. Overall quality of the fish and uni was good for what you pay. We didn’t try any of their other options but I heard they get kumamoto oysters fresh from Washington.
I’d give this place a 4.5 but Google doesn’t...
