I’ll start by saying that the food taste and quality is miles better than the other Mexican restaurant next door. I’m a regular and eat here about once a week. Discount burrito Wednesday is the best! And the salsa bar is my favorite part. Also the renovation was much needed!!
I am however getting frustrated at the inconsistency in my orders that almost always have something wrong. When the food is right - it hits. But I have seldom had an experience go perfectly smooth.
I ordered a bowl - it says so on the receipt- but was given a burrito. Honestly not a big deal I wasn’t gonna start a problem over it. But when I got home it’s filled with intestines or beef tongue? It says on the wrap “extra carnitas” but there’s none with only a few pieces of my ordered carne asada.
I highly recommend adding a screen so customers can verify their order is correct because almost always something gets missed.
And I paid with cash but still got charged an extra SF mandate 4% fee? Maybe I misunderstand.
I’m pretty chill about most things and happy to edit this review. But look - when I’m bringing home food to a hungry woman I’m sure you can understand it needs to be correct or you get...
Read moreAs I ate my burrito today, somewhere around the 200th burrito I've had from here over the last 5 years, I thought to myself, "Man, Zorro's makes really good burritos." After all this time, all the other burrito places in NE SF I've tried, Zorro's remains the gold standard. Their burritos are large, but not newborn-baby sized like you'll find at some taquerias in the city. They steam their tortillas to get that perfect smooth, chewy texture, the pico de gallo adds some zesty freshness.
They famously offer the Zorro burrito, which has fries instead of rice, and Zorro nachos, which replaces the tortilla chips with, you guessed it, fries. I don't recommend trying to do anything after ordering either of these entrees. Except a nap.
I have tried their burritos, nachos & tacos and they are all fantastic. Ditto for all the meat options: Chicken, pork, carne asada. They have homemade horchata, hibiscus tea & mango juice to help wash it all down. Good for eat...
Read moreBest meal on this San Francisco trip! Loved the thematic interior and wall frescos. Order the Al Pastor super taco (with the lot), a Mexican coke and got complimentary tortilla chips and 3 small containers to hit the salsa bar!
The salsa bar was fresh and beautifully presented and I tried the tomato, verde and habanero salsas. All delicious and the habanero was spicy but didn't blow my head off. My food was brought to my table which was a nice touch given this is a fast service restaurant.
The portion size of the single super taco was enormous (forgive me, I'm Australian and portion sizes in USA still astonish me). The pork was tasty and tender and all the toppings went together perfectly. Staff were friendly.
Sadly in Australia, we have garbage Mexican food... I wish Taqueria Zorro would consider opening a Sydney outpost so I can eat there all the time!
Don't...
