Extreme prices, awful service, just ok food.
Ordered the pork bowl for $19.80. Cashier asks if I want the brisket bowl for $27.50. I say no, pork please. Cashier turns his bluetooth speaker toward me, turns the volume down, and asks again if I want a brisket bowl. I say "no, the pork bowl, its called a Mr Pink on your menu" cashier asks "and that's it?" I say yes, he says 10 minutes and I step back to wait. 2 minutes later, he is waving me over to the truck, holding up the tip screen and looking at me expectantly. I see my total is $27.50 for one brisket bowl. I should have just left, rather than asserting for the 4th time that I wanted pork. But I was hungry and committed at this point, and still being stared down for a tip, so I put one in. I spent the next 10 minutes wondering if they would serve me pork after charging me for brisket. I did end up with the brisket.
So how was my $32.50 brisket bowl? It was a half cup of rice, and a half cup of beef and broccoli. I paid $33 bucks for half a plate of buffet-quality bulgogi.

Upper Cut is located in the Sparks Social area near the Mission Bay Hospital area. Free street parking is not possible... but there are paid lots everywhere in the area.
Today I decided to get the Brisket Bowl, Full size. $25 You get sliced lean brisket with Grilled Veggies and steamed broccoli over a bed of brown rice.
The brisket was smokey and tender. I love the nuttiness of the brown rice, The rice absorbs the flavors from the veggies, The bowl is sweet and a bit of spicy from the jalapenos. Not sure how it can be nutty, smokey, spicy and sweet at the same time. The only thing I would have liked is a bit of fat, that I expect from brisket.
The cost of the dish is a bit high for...
Read moreReally disappointing. The spicy fried chicken sliders with a pricey side of fries were saggy and tasteless. I went to ask for extra ketchup and, instead of basic courtesy, Martin questioned whether I had actually purchased anything and pushed me to explain my order, even after I said my partner came and I have the receipt. I felt racially profiled and humiliated over a side of cheap ketchup, in front of other customers. Between the rude treatment and the bad food, I won't return. He really ruined my sparks social experience....
