Arriving early for an event at the Chase Center, we decided to check out SPARK Social, which was about a block and a half away. It's been several years since I've been here, but there are a lot more trucks here now. Checking out the options, there were about 20 trucks here.
Having tried some of these trucks from Off the Grid, I wanted to try something new. Wicked Star caught my eye when I saw pork belly as one of their menu items. After placing my order, I got an order pickup buzzard and went to find a table in the large dining area. About ten minutes, I got the buzz and went to get my order.
Pork Belly and Lime Bowl consisted of crispy roasted pork belly, cilantro, sliced lime, Thai chili with Thai-Vietnamese fish sauce over rice and it came with a green salad in oil and vinegar. The pork belly was moist with each piece having some crispy skin on it. Good flavor especially the citrusy taste from the lime pulp mixed in.
I enjoyed the pork belly and lime bowl and felt it was reasonable at $12.95. Would order it again.
Mark L.Elite 2022 Los Altos, CA 30535605 6/17/2022 1 photo We only ordered the crab fried rice. It was a huge disappointment. It's worth probably a 1 "wicked" star but you always give the benefit of the doubt.
The fried rice lacks flavor, not fried well enough, a bit soggy but could be the mistake of putting salad on top of the rice. Lettuce got moisture so part of the rice is wet and cold.
The fried rice also lacks "wok air". If you had good fried rice before, you know what I meant. The heated smell of "frying" the rice, the aroma of the flavor of the rice steaming out from the rice. Now given some like well fried fried rice (some Chinese style are like that)and some like the moist fried rice (like the Thai fried rice), you still can smell and taste that steaming flavor in the air. This one just looked and tasted like a "dead" fried rice.
The only thing they did was interesting is they added some really spicy chili. It sure gave a kick.

Sean K. Pleasant Hill, CA 161517 6/4/2022 Contrary to the average score, I personally give it a 4.8 out of 5... or a 5. It is a food truck that sells really yummy food. I really like their pork belly with rice. I love the sauce that the rice comes in. Plus the lime is just a nice touch. Usually I dont have too much leisure time when I ate here and I was hungry so I really appreciated the promptness of the food.
Would always come back if in the area for a nice lunch at a place with a fun ambience!
Mimi L.Elite 2022 San Francisco, CA 187691 11/19/2022 2 photos Tried out their pork belly bowl and had such high expectations as it's a popular item. I found it to be overpriced for the amount of food (specifically, pork pieces) I received. The lime that was mixed throughout the rice was not fresh and had already become bitter. The rice was also cooked on the dry side. I wasn't the biggest fan of the dressing and felt it didn't taste authentic. I most likely will not come back.

Wicked Star seems to thinks so because we received enough rice to feed three people...
OR, keep one person very round.

Read moreThe bestie and I have continued the tradition of trying every food truck before the Giants games on Tuesdays, and this past Tuesday 6/24 around 4:30p, we ventured to Wicked Star. There’s touchscreens to order on like most places, easy to use. I ordered the Pork belly with lime bowl, it was ready pretty quick less than 5mins, more people showed up after us and they did seem busy the time we were there. My buddy got the crab fried rice and veggie egg rolls as they were out of the shrimp and crab(Boo!). We sat to eat (I always bring my leftovers in to the game) and I was slightly disappointed. The portion was a good amount of pork belly, but honestly not that great, it was pretty chewy/fatty and not in a good way. I also asked for extra spicy, I could have definitely used more but I understand everyone has a different tolerance for spicy so maybe they erred on the side of caution. Rice and salad was good. Now the egg rolls, hmmmph, they looked good but small, and when I tried one it just was bland, the sauce they come with was great, but I had to dip it for the two bites I had. I didn’t try the rice so can only go off my friend saying he liked it and he didn’t have any leftovers. I thought it looked a little skimpy on the crab. Cost wise, menu prices are listed in my photos, my meal (no drink or extras) was $17.83, so pretty much average cost for a meal, but cheaper than what I’d spend inside Oracle Park. I’ll try the place again eventually but I’m not...

Disappointing overall, given the potential with this type of cuisine.
I ordered the pork belly with rice, and it was... surprisingly bland and uninteresting. The pork belly uncharacteristically had very little crispiness and, worse, was seemingly unseasoned. Even a pinch of salt would have been helpful, but ideally some pepper or garlic or, really, anything.
The Thai Green Tea was... fine.
The pricing... ouch. I know this is a food truck, but my pork dish (with $1 upcharge for avocado) plus a modestly-sized tea came to $25 after a $2 tip.
And speaking of tipping... I'm not taking stars off for this, but it's just gotten annoying how we're expected to tip for pretty much everything nowadays. I ordered at a machine, picked up my food, grabbed my own napkins and straw, and sat at a communal table far away, bussed my own trash... and the only "service" I got was a grunt acknowledging my pickup. Why are we even prompted to...
