I recently discovered this unique brewery + fermentation restaurant serving some of the most creative Kombuchas, mocktails and flavorful plant-based bites. Parking: You can find street parking per east in the weekend. Space /Ambiance: They have indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor wall art of the giant fox illustration and vibrant colors give the place a very eclectic and refreshing vibe. Food/drinks: It’s mostly plant-based except a couple of items. They have a seasonally rotating menu. We got the Half spread which comes with 1 fermented item and it was delish! We also got the popular Cultured Cashew Queso with Salsa Macha and chips, definitely a must try. The queso was perfectly cheesy, can't even tell it's plant-based, and the Salsa Matcha was so unique combination. The mocktails look insanely good and taste amazing- Butterfly Pea Mocktail was great! Service: They have very kind staff, incredibly helpful in recommending some items. The service was also pretty quick. Community oriented: Their concept of being a place for the community is amazing, they host Open mic and other events too. Highly recommend it and I can't wait to go back. Plan a trip to visit Fox Tale and try their amazing drinks and bites, you'll love it.

I really like the staff and the bar itself, some nice intimate areas to sit at as well as tables nearer the front. We stopped by as their rating were very high online and wanted to check out the beer. The bar is very nice and we liked the overall ambiance - I thought the beer was just ok though we had a tasters of most of the beers, they do use some interesting ingredients on some of the beer such as mushrooms. I liked 'Sunday Funday' if I had to pick one to try again. I did see other folks having food which looked very good, unfortunately but did not get a chance to try although food may actually be their forte here. Also, there was a host of non alcoholic brews too … quirky bar to have a stop in if downtown.

I have been coming here since they opened and barely got around to doing a review now. Beautiful little spot. I have come here on date nights, after art events, and most recently to finish up some college essays… which means that this place is PERFECT for all occasions casual and not. Bring a friend, a partner, a classmate whatever and you are sure to have a delicious time. All the staff is so friendly and the music is never too loud and always fits the vibe. The drinks are so refreshing, and the brine shot I definitely recommend before you head out. They change the fermentation menu so each time you go will bring new tastes to your plate.

Wendy and Felipe at Fox Tale Fermentation Project have really put their hearts into opening a community oriented joint that celebrates San Jose's tradition for innovation and it's place in the SF Bay's beer scene with incredibly thought provoking and unique beers and bites.

The brews here are untraditional (like a Saison that uses beets for fermentable sugar!) yet still remain true to style/flavor. Their lagers are crisp (I really love the blue corn lager, Drink Cultura), their IPA are all hoppy and modern (Super Bloom for the win!), and the Belgian style beers hit all the notes that a beer geek is looking for. Oh, and their kombucha is absolutely legit!

While the libations are great, the food here is equally as adventurous and tasty! The menu is frequently updated, but it is always plant based and centered around fermented food items. I cannot think of anywhere in the world where they experiment (so successfully!) this much with such a variety of ingredients. For both the brews and the food, Fox Tale always has a story to tell, which typically ties back to the region and community, with respect to ingredients and or collaborative work.

The location here is a little bit tight (they are a "nano brewery", after all), but it has a great mood--they usually have good music playing, and the space is very inviting--think hip, Belgian cafe--with brick walls and lots of natural light. The staff are all super friendly, responsive, and are willing to answer ALL the questions!

Overall, I would recommend anyone that likes unique food and or brews go check out Fox Tale Fermentation Project! It is a great place for vegetarians, but really anyone that enjoys a good craft beer or a meal with a story will love...

Awesome sauce. Literally. Props on the dips/sauces. They've got delicious kombucha beer, lots of beverage curiosities and noms. Warm and real service. The atmosphere is cool artistic and welcoming. We randomly walked in on a comedy night and it was fun especially because the diverse crowd included some furries from a nearby convention and both the comedians and the crowd where having a good time playing off each other's weirdness in a cool way.

The food is really filling yummy and gourmet, but reasonably priced for San Jose. I also enjoyed their wacky apothecary near where I was sitting that included fire cider which I had been meaning to grab somewhere sufficiently witchy back during the height of flu season in the area. We look forward to going again and trying the...
