Goku Sushi — Restaurant in San Jose

New sushi restaurant finally open within walking distance from me! They totally transformed the interior, it looks completely different from the location's Johnny Rockets and Burgerim eras. It looks sleek and beautiful with the hanging lanterns and the koi fish on the wall 👌

Food: Salmon belly nigiri - 5/5, very delicious and fresh. Also the first time I've ever gotten nigiri with such long slices of fish.

Miso soup - 4/5, a bit bland but still refreshing.

Beef teriyaki - 2/5, sadly, despite its nice presentation, this was not up to standard. Not sure what cut of meat was used, but it had a lot of inedible cartilage bits and it was overcooked, so the meat was tough to chew.

Service: No greeting upon walking in, but I was still seated fairly quickly.

Overall I will definitely come back to try more of the sushi dishes, but I will probably skip the entrees...

March 19th, 2025 is their first day of soft opening therefore not sure why they had a bad review 5 days before that other than someone being biased.

The toro served on salt block was delightful to the eyes, camera and palate. The smoked sashimi was also one of the tables’ favorite. While we wish we could have tried everything in one sitting, the infant at the table said “try again next time”. Thus we shall be back for the rest of the menu per boss baby’s request.

Other honorable mentions: The staff were attentive and wonderful. The amaebi is one of my personal favorites of the meal. Shishito peppers hit the spot. Side order of Fresh wasabi on everything is a must Hamachi & yellowtail nigiri Salmon nigiri I am biased on sushi rolls with sliced lemon on top which is why I will also mention their 49er roll was...

🍣🔥👏 Goku Sushi in Blossom Hill, San Jose, is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. The ambiance is cozy yet modern, perfect for a casual dinner or a special night out.

The sushi? Incredible! Every roll was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The Dragon Roll and the Omakase selection were definite highlights—melt-in-your-mouth goodness! The fish quality was top-notch, and the portions were generous.

On top of that, the service was fast and attentive, with the staff making sure we had everything we needed. Prices were reasonable for the quality, and we left completely satisfied.
