After attending the viewing of the passing of an old friend, my wife and I went out for dinner. Because breakfast for any meal is awesome and she and I had been talking extensively about the waffle House, she had hankering for breakfast food. And when it's into the evening, what better place, then again there aren't many options, would there be then the International House Of Pancakes. This IHOP was very close to funeral home which made it convenient as a choice, and we were concerned that it would be very busy and it would be a wait when we decided to go. This is the case with the IHOP that is near our home which seems to always have a line out the door no matter the time of day or night. When we arrived, we were surprised to find that there was no line at all, there wasn't even a reception. This there to greet us to see this immediately, but this wasn't a problem as we were just patient and waited for someone to arrive. When we were seated and looked around, we noticed that the decor for IHOP had changed since we had been there last. Not this one in particular, but IHOP as a restaurant. Admittedly, the new design looked quite modern and nice and comfortable. I like it. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito and I ordered the Colorado omelette, which is basically an omelette with as much meat as you can get on it. Same thing I always order. It also came with three buttermilk pancakes, which I really wanted to have because although I make what I think are pretty good pancakes at home utilizing the Krustiez pancake mix, I've always believed that IHOP had the best pancakes and that my "homemade" pancakes could never compare. When they brought the food out, I always seem to have forgotten how big their omelets are. They are massive, and could easily feed two people. I was only able to eat half especially if I wanted to stomach some pancakes as well. The Colorado omelette was as good as it always is. But when it came to the pancakes it came in a stack of three and I gave my wife one. She was one who's hankering for waffles or something of the like, but after taking a few bites of this she handed the pancake back to me and said she was good. And I asked her if it was good and she simply replied that maybe she isn't a pancake person. So I happily finished off the one that she didn't eat, however, I don't know if my memory is betraying me, but the pancake was not as good as my memory had told me. Granted I am a bit older now and I don't know when. The last time I went to IHOP was, but I do recall that it was during a time where I was making the same pancakes at home. Either my taste buds have changed, the recipe has changed, or it was an off night for IHOP. My tasting left me feeling as though it tasted not much different than the ones I made at home. As a result, it was nothing special and I am not sure what to think about IHOP's pancakes moving forward unless I try another set again and have a different experience. Now, I don't want this to necessarily sour anybody else's opinion of IHOP. They have been around for a long time and unless others feel the way I do, I don't think that the quality or the flavor of their food has necessarily diminished. However, this does make me feel pensive if I were to ever consider going to IHOP for pancakes again. Omelettes, the same as ever were. Pancakes...? Only a few more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI rode my bike here about 8pm and was in a really good mood and wanted to stop to eat. That mood ended real quick the second I ordered food. There was absolutely no one dining in the restaurant at the time so I decided to order to-go so I wasn't the only one eating. Depressing atmosphere. The cashier rang me up and took my card and placed it in the chip reader herself. Little did I realize she had accidentally brought up a $61 order and charged it to my card instead of my $18 order. 60 bucks is a very significant amount to me, and noticed the incorrect charge after the chip had already read. I should be the one inserting my card in the first place, not her. She said don't worry about the charge but she didn't actually refund it cause she didn't know how. So I asked for a manager and the other server comes up and says she is in charge for the night. She had to call her manager to learn how to reverse the charge, something everyone on a register should be trained to do, while my food was sitting there for 15 minutes getting cold. Once she got off the phone she told me the refund would go through the following day. Not happy about having to wait a day for money that got taken from me to return to my account. Then I told her I wanted a refund on the food because it was sitting for too long, and she said she doesn't know how to do that. Are you serious?? So instead of calling her manager again, she hands me a $20 bill from her wallet and insists I take it instead of the refund. Very unprofessional. I didn't want to take her money, especially if it was her tips, but she insisted, and that was the only way we were both going to walk away somewhat satisfied with the outcome. I will not take my business somewhere that handles my money so carelessly. Mistakes happen, but you need to know what to do when you mess up, especially when it's dealing with customer's money. Let me make this clear. I am not blaming or getting mad at the servers here. It's not their fault they aren't trained in BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE and CASH HANDLING. The management here needs to step their game up and train their servers in all areas if they are going to be left alone to close up. I work in the service industry too. I understand managers are not always present to handle issues especially at night. But there needs to be someone present who can because I don't mess around with my money. The refund did go through but not until noon the next day. And it ruined the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was doing my side gig for a DoorDash and picking up an order for a customer and keep us in mind. This is not my first rodeo, so I understand that the orders are going to be in the front when I got there no one attended to me, nor did they even acknowledge me whatsoever. There was a lady that just passed me by and didnāt even bother saying anything to me. I then walked towards the area where I saw someone cleaning the table and asked them about the order and she was nice. Then, This, Hispanic lady with a mad face on Iām not sure if she was having a bad day. She just starts yelling at me and telling me that not to walk around when Iām not even walking around. Iām posted waiting to get helped. I then told her that I was just looking for an order for DoorDash and she kept interrupting me brutally and still telling me that I canāt walk around. This is so unprofessional she thinks she owns the restaurant and she is the manager. This company needs to rethink the strategy, because there is no room for ego in this business, there is no room for discrimination. She treated me like I was a villain like she was better than me. This is my side gig. I work for AT&T and I do a job that she would not even be able to handle in the real world, so what gives her the right to give me attitude and then tell me at the same time to leave and never come back and that sheās going to cancel the customers order because of discrimination towards if she doesnāt like her job, then quit because thereās no room for people like her. I bring my parents here to eat, and I spend money at this place and for someone to come over here to disrespect me in front of everyone all because of her ego. I didnāt even say anything to her disrespectful. I was just preaching that I needed my order in a respectful matter. I will...
