JapaCurry — Restaurant in San Jose

Came to San Jose for work and found SoFa wandering around the hotel area.

I love Japanese food and there is truly not enough representation where I’m from so I was excited to see it.

I got the Katsu Chicken Curry (a well loved staple)

The portion was large, the sauce was delicious and the chicken was crispy. It was a very large piece of chicken which is great. I would love the option to have the sauce on the side.

I was eating alone, normally something I enjoy, but this week just happened to be more difficult in multiple aspects and I was feeling down. I mention this because while I was eating the owner (?) brought out this little dish of ice cream without explanation as a feature of kindness .. that was exactly what I needed and it’s amazing of them to recognize. The owners are kind and excited to begin their culinary journey .. I will pray and hope the community supports nice people...

Debated putting this up but willing to adjust this review later on.

I have tried coming here 4 or 5 times now during their own posted business hours and only successfully ordered once on a Saturday. The pork belly was delicious.

I've tried since multiple times to come back and try the hamburg anywhere from Wednesday 6:30PM to Sunday 3PM when their hours say they are open, only to be met with a closed sign. Their hours need to be fixed, it has been an awful experience with these...

Inside SoFA market. Really yummy! Generous portion of food, they were quick to make it. Curry was very comfy and I liked the way it was seasoned. Rice was well made and I got an extra side of it and it was an actual separate container which I like. They packed it well too I could have taken it to go and it would've been together still when I got home. Chicken katsu was well cooked and crispy.
