I have been working at the San Jose Convention Center for 18 years. I used to enjoy eating Vietnamese food at Da Kao, but they closed. Since COVID, I gave this place a chance. I have been here on several occasions. I noticed a very poor attitude from most of the employees. The food was pretty good. But, today was the last straw. I went there at my dinner break and ordered a bun bowl and Vietnamese coffee. The young ladies were apathetic at best and rude at worst. I have worked in many service jobs over the decades, so I know it can be difficult. I try to be nice and I always tip. I don't like using the self order computer, I prefer to talk to a human. Of course, this interrupts the employees' tiktok scrolling, which must be super annoying. The girl asked me a million questions, even though my order was simple. Of course I had to ask for the ☕ coffee twice. Finally when I got my order and said thank you, the food was foisted at me without even a scintilla of courtesy or a return of my pleasantry. I will never spend one cent at this place for the rest of my life. The bun bowl was mediocre, and that's a stretch. This place is a dump. Bye bye Forever. I have been working for over 40 years, first of all. Second of all, I was once an insolent student who resented customers. Being sarcastic and shifting blame to me might make you feel better, but it doesn't change what people experience. A large part of whether someone decides to come back depends on how they are treated. I used the plural "employees". I was not targeting her specifically because I have had several similar experiences at your business. Unfortunately, there are not very many choices around the area when you have a half hour dinner, so I overlooked the fact that I felt despised when I came to grab a bite because the food was pretty good. Most business owners might see this as an opportunity to improve instead of insisting that the customer change. Good luck changing all your customers to adapt to your needs. PS If you doubt the veracity of anything I said: check your video! Calling me a liar is also not the best tactic to improve your...
Read moreSo my Boss sent me a local article for this spot and I was like; “Why has it taken this long for the word to be out?” (7 months) . Usually, Vietnamese community in SJ has the best way to spread news of the newest eatery...I think I know why it hasn’t spread smooth like melted butter. Location. SoFMarket... a newly indoor food eatery with stalls ana booths of food vendors. Similar to San Pedro Square. I’ve been living in NY the past year so it’s comparable to the Chelsea Market but on a much smaller scale.
Concept is great. The Chipotle method to Vietnamee Salads, Vermicelli, and / or Rice Bowls. Choose your protein and all the fresh vegetable fixins’. I tell my Asian friends all the time that Vietnamese food is he healthiest of all Asian cuisine. The abundance of styles in food and all fresh veggies and preparation. What was most legit is that I saw the Maggie Seasoning Sauce as a condiment. And it was stamped as the authentic Europe version. Maggie made in a China sucks. Fish sauce aka nuoc mam is legit. They didn’t water it down to accommodate the non-Asians who get scared of that stuff. A whole bottle of shaken fried garlic and shallots to top off, the best! It was bound to...
Read moreLocated with SoFA market is this little life saver to for my sudden need for a Banh mi. I yelped this place but didn’t realize it was actually a food court with multiple options. It gave all of a chance to pick something different. Of course My daughter and I were undeterred and picked up a Pork Banh Mi and their tofu rice plate.
I of course enjoyed my sandwich, but I was pleasantly Surprised by the rice plate. The tofu was well seasoned and prepared and the accompanying sauce was great. I felt my self eating more than a parent should of their child’s food but couldn’t ignore how great it tasted. The plate also included an egg roll which I tasted only a small bite. Next time I’m here I might forgo the sandwich for one of their awesome rice plates.
The service was great, no issues with my order and the employees made it quick. It isn’t really big but is part of a food court. Seating was great throughout the food court as it wasn’t particularly busy. Definitely looking forward to checking out this place or one of their other locations again...
