Review of Hacienda Nightclub â 1 Star
I came to Hacienda Nightclub in San Jose on 7/18 with a group of friends expecting to have a good time. Before entering, I asked the security guard if there was a cover charge, and she confirmed it was $10 per person. I proceeded to pay $40 for four of my friends at the reception area. However, when the server, Danna V, charged me, I noticed something was off. She had the screen facing away from me, and it ended up charging me $45.49 instead.
I immediately questioned it and asked why I was charged an extra $5.49. She told me it was for taxes on the entrance fee. I found that odd and asked her for a receipt, but she claimed she couldnât print one. I told her that if it were a tip, I wouldnât mindâbut itâs another thing to lie to a customer. She insisted again that it wasnât a tip.
It didnât sit right with me, so once inside, I spoke to a bartender and asked if they charge taxes on cover charges. She wasnât sure but offered to bring a manager. I spoke with the manager outside to avoid making a scene. He told me that no, they do not charge tax on the entrance fee. I explained what had happened, and while he was polite and apologized, he blamed it on the POS system possibly âacting up.â
That would have made senseâif I wasnât lied to by Danna V earlier. What really confirmed my suspicion was when I asked the manager for a receipt and suddenly it was possible to print oneâafter I was previously told it couldnât be done. The receipt clearly showed $5.49 was charged as a tip, not tax.
The manager offered drinks to make it right, but I declined. I didnât come for freebiesâI came for a good time and to not be deceived. Instead, I spent nearly 40 minutes dealing with this, completely ruining my night. I told the manager I was leaving and that Iâd be contacting my bank and filing a formal complaint.
I get that mistakes happen, but lying to a paying customer and then covering it up is unacceptable. Please donât insult peopleâs...
Read moreI used to think this place was great. I guess that's because I always showed up with my white friends. First time I brought a Mexican friend (along with a group of others), I noticed the security guards trying to usher him out. He had been standing on the side of the dance floor near the bottle service area (but not inside of it, to be clear... on the dance floor), minding his business while the rest of us danced.
I rushed over to stop them and asked them what the problem was. Apparently, a group of Columbianas told security they didn't like him and they decided to remove him.
For no reason.
How is this acceptable? Didn't realize how racist this...
Read moreGoing to put a lawsuit on this place. This place DISCRIMINATED ME! I went on a Saturday night out with my friends & they wouldnât let me in because the guard said the person on the ID wasnât me. When it was I had got my nose done recently & in my ID I didnât have my nose done & I had no makeup. Mind you Iâve never had a problem here & theyâve always understood me. She asked me if I had another ID which I told her I didnât that was my own type of identification. It was horrible and embarrassing. It was a lady guard at the front. I even answered all the questions they asked me. How disappointing! I understand they are cautious, but it wasnât fair &...
