Second time at a Loving Hut. The first time was in the Sunset in SF, which was great. We tried the hot dog (overpriced, tiny, and nothing special), the sesame bites (which were really soft and different from other sesame bites I have had, which normally mimic chicken rather than beef, in a sauce that was more gelatinous than sauce-ey), and, thankfully much better than the rest, the pesto grill (which was very good, would buy again). I would probably not bring my non-vegan friends here for their first vegan restaurant, as the menu seems to be a hit or miss compared to other options in the area.

I'm not vegetarian/vegan but I'm not opposed to having vege/vegan food. Decided to try here for lunch after shopping in the mall. I ordered the spicy royal just because the picture looked good, but I didn't realize it's supposed to be the vegan version of bun bo hue which is my favorite dish! The broth was delicious and I didn't miss any meat/meat flavoring at all. I devoured it quickly and enjoyed every bite. The dish didn't look large but it was very filling. Overall a satisfying meal.

Saturday evening takeout(1st visit):

Ordered Lemongrass tofu.

It’s very good, semi spicy, a stir fry, so a dry dish. Lots of veggies. If you’re in a mood for wet/curryish dish, it may not work for you.

The wait time after order was like 10-15 minutes. Price was reasonable as well. I’d definitely visit again to try other stuff.

Monday evening takeout(2nd visit):

Ordered Sesame bites, side of golden wonton and fries.

Sesame bites are too good, not spicy, wet dish with sesame and brown sauce. Lots of broccoli. If you’re in a mood for dry dish, it may not work for you. Golden wontons we’re okay(would have way better if it was clubbed with a sweet and sour sauce) but fries were meh(possibly due to pick up).

i’ve always been a fan of this location, and have been dozens of times. and now, for the last time. last weekend, i walked up, with zero people in line, and was told the order time wait was 30 minutes. “we have all these delivery orders, see?”

but surely you make an exception for walk up customers, the ones who made your business what it is now, who take the time to come to your location?

“no, we don’t.”

when doordash and uber eats fail you as economies open again, don’t come crying to the likes of me. a shame to lose you, but you lost me. 1 star for being vegan.

A vegan option at Oakridge Mall is very welcome, and I usually enjoy the "meatless" meats offered. I tried the Vermicelli Delicacy and Sesame Bites. The flavor of the Sesame Bites was unimpressive to me, I wouldn't get it again, but the Vermicelli I would get again.

The food quality here is just average in comparison to its non-vegan versions, as well as other vegan eateries I've tried. If the prices reflected the quality of food more I would give them 4 stars, but at $5 for an appetizer, and about $9 for some very average vegan dishes, I feel like its a bit too expensive.

But I still like the Loving Hut and will be back! I intend to try some of the other items which I see are...
