Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95113 Date of Experience: Thurs. 7/27/17 from 1 to 1:56 pm Order: Tofu, Veggies, & Vermicelli Noodles, Iced Asian Coffee, & H20 Table Location: Front Door NW Booth My check wasn’t brought to the table, so I went up to the cashier to pay for my bill. There were 2 people there, they were attempting to put towels into a plastic bag. I waited patiently. From the start of this interaction, the cashier was negative, brusque, rude, & not courteous at all. She immediately demanded, when I gave her my Visa C/D Card, “Don’t you have cash!?!?” It took me by surprise (see below.) More surprising was the negative tone-of-voice and scowl on her face. Not good for a long-term customer. She then immediately pointed to the “Tip and Gratuity” plastic jar to the side of the cash register. This was done in a mandatory manner. Not good at all! I complimented her on the food, and I was given a mean nasty look. The man, who was helping with the towels, went to look or bus the table I was sitting at. He stared at me the whole time, I was leaving. This entire interaction was rude, unnecessary, inappropriate, and definitely made sure that the New Tung Kee Noodle lost a customer- for good. I needed to head down to San Jose for an appt. on Th. 7/27/2017. By the time, I arrived, I was really hungry. It was a split choice between my favorite Mexican Restaurant or to go to New Tung Kee Noodle. As, I have attempted to eat there over the last 3 to 4 years, when I find my self in San Jose. The food has been quite consistent, & price is quite reasonable. I am quite clear, I will not returning to New Tung Kee Noodle in the future. They do not deserve my business. Unfortunately, I made a really poor decision, & I found myself in a quite uncomfortable & unnecessary position. When I arrived, I patiently waited at the front entrance, a floor person indicated for me to take the NW booth by the front door. When, she came up to me requesting my order, I IMMEDIATELY asked, “Do you take credit cards?” She said, “Yes.” As, I only had $11 in my wallet, I wanted to make sure, I could eat & also have a Asian Iced Coffee. I knew, it was going to be more than I had. I quietly ate my lunch, & I finished just before 1:50 pm.

They have very good fried egg rolls. I love it. Their sate noodle is a disaster, a terrible sauce mix with peanut sauce that I cannot finish the food. Their crunchy fried noodle is average. The space is spacious. The waiters are gentle and kind and serve quickly. But I cannot stand the cashier lady. When we said we want to split the bill (because we are a group of friends) she was so unhappy. I want to check the bill to see how much and she said they don't give bill.
WHAT KIND OF RESTAURANTS THAT DO NOT GIVE YOU BILL TO CHECK THE MONEY? I insisted to see the bill and she gave me my friend's card receipt after they paid, a credit card receipt, which is not a bill. I came back home and checked and realized she overcharged us 10 USD for a meal.
And then she raised her voice at my friend and asked : NO TIP? NO TIP? and then she bump the jar on the table to make noise and embarrassed them. I was upset with that impolite action so I told her that no we don't tip.
I don't mind about tipping but I don't tip...
Read moreIt was the service that really bugged me...got there before 8pm was seated...I told them I was waiting for someone else and I ordered for us both....once my boyfriend walked in, they told him they were closed and couldn't serve him. I informed them he was with me and they obviously let him sit. Other people got there well after him and they were treated nicely and weren't given an issue about the time. I feel they were judging him based on his looks and that's not fair at all. We ate and left without incident, the food was subpar if you ask me. TK NOODLE has more delicious soups.
