Ordered porotta and beef fry through Uber Eats. The delivery was quick and smooth. But the food, especially the beef fry was a disaster.
The porotta was good and soft and medium size.
Beef fry was such a waste of money! A single plate of fry costs about $17 dollar, and the quantity spoke far less. Setting aside quantity, the quality of the food was really bad. The beef pieces were very small and I could see that it was deep fried so much that the taste that stood out was of the burnt masala. I hope the place improves in its quantity and quality!
Preordered the weekend speciality pothichoru - 1 fish fry and 1 beef fry. Order and pickup was very smooth.
When you open the pothichoru you can at once travel back to Kerala! Well packed and served in banana leaf. There was rice, beans thoran, beetroot, omlette, chammanthi and pickle and moru curry for both. Fish fry pothichoru had 3 small mathi fry.
There was a lot of rice and I felt really full after eating half the rice. The amount of curries were actually less and I wish for the price there could have been more quantity. Also the omlette was just a square thin piece above the rice! Taste wise everything was good, and my favorite was moru curry which they gave double quantity. Beef was ok.
For the price, I definitely expected more curry instead of just a lot of rice.
Went for the onasadhya on a Tuesay afternoon. We were one among the first to arrive and so it was just a few of us. The restaurant was fully arranged for the sadhya and everything was set on the banana leaf. Though I felt the sadhya to be a bit expensive, the food was too good.
Had a craving for fish pollichathu, and where else to go than to our own kerala cuisine. We bought the dish and appam to go with it. My husband bought a mutton pepper roast and egg paratha.
Starting the review with the fish pollichathu, for which I visited this place. It was a well prepared and tasty salmon, grilled and wrapped in banana leaf with some masala. I liked the dish, but I would not state it as a must try. It is really really expensive and for the price I was a bit disappointed in the quantity of the fish.
Appam was soft and is the small homemade ones. You can actually see them making the appam in a counter nearby.
Mutton pepper roast was too spicy that actually the taste was lost in the hotness of the dish. The mutton was ok and the quantity was sufficient for two. But the taste of pepper was exceeded by the hot chilly, and if you are expecting the brown mutton roast, you should consider the other mutton dishes. I felt though the dish was good, it did not justify the name.
The egg paratha is a simple dish as the name suggests. It was good, but the usual paratha is way better.
Overall another good experience, but this time I found it a bit expensive.
PS: Being one of the last customers for the day, was able to click pictures of an almost empty restaurant.
This was our second time for the Sunday lunch buffet, and the waiting line this time was far too long compared to last time (maybe due to Easter). Anyways we had one of the best buffets and that really tasted homemade. There was a wide variety of dishes, but there was no starters. The vegetable pakora was the only one other than garden salad, but it was over when we reached. Brown rice with sambar and avial was my favorite and it really felt like eating back home. Kappa and fish curry was superb, and so was the chicken stew and perattu. The chicken tandoori was grilled to perfection. The buffet ended with desserts that included cut fruits, ada pradhaman and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.
The staff is very friendly and nice. We had one of our Chinese-American friend with is, and we wanted him to taste our authentic cuisine. He really loved the dishes, and we are really happy to have...
Read morePros: Malabar cuisine, constantly refilled buffet items, reasonably spiced Cons: Cramped waiting space, bad management of waiting list, not a big selection of items
This review is for the weekend lunch buffet. We as a party of two decided to eat here for a Sunday lunch buffet that runs from 12-3 pm. We reached the restaurant at 1:40 pm and on entering, we saw around 10 people waiting in front of the front desk. There were 4-5 chairs and all other people were standing. We were put on a waitlist and were told there were 2 parties before us and it will be 15-20 minutes. We started waiting with the hope of getting our table by 2 pm. After that, lots of parties started coming and some of them got tables assigned to them which made me think if there was line cutting being allowed. It seems that people reserved their seats by making phone calls earlier, in which case it's completely fair. However, the practice becomes questionable when the management doesn't convey the actual people in front of you in the waitlist and the actual expected wait time lest people don't wait it out and leave. Around 2 pm, I was told that there are still 2 parties in front of me despite around 4-5 parties getting tables all this while. Finally, (believe it or not), we got our table at 2:30 pm and started taking our food from the buffet spread. There wasn't a huge selection of items as other reviewers have also mentioned and there were 3 non-veg items. The fish curry was almost depleted and all that was left was the gravy with small broken pieces of fish lying in there. The chicken was being completely refilled and it tasted really good. In addition, the parotta, a South Indian delicacy (looks similar to Lachha Paratha, not an expert on this) was really good and one of the best that I have tried out in Indian restaurants. Desserts were practically non-existent and there was an ice-cream tub to answer for all the sweet teeth.
Overall, this place didn't live up to the hype for me personally, but it's recommended to make a reservation early on to have a proper...
