My husband and I just moved in to the area and have been passing by this sign that says Sagar Sweets & Restaurant so I decided to Google it. Being a huge fan of Indian food, I was so happy to find out I live next to one! I read the reviews of course but didn't let myself be discouraged by the negative reviews as some people did seem to like it. The food is different from the usual Indian food I've had but I do enjoy the flavors and I like that I can actually taste real ingredients. The owner was very nice to give us mango lassi on the house while waiting for our take out order since they only served it if you dined in. I like that it isn't too thick and it's definitely perfect with any dish! He also gave us a generous sample of the Punjabi Curry which I'm very thankful for because it's now one of my favorite things here. Oh and of course, don't forget to order the samosa! It is fresh and crispy and flavorful! I normally have a low tolerance to spicy foods but despite most dishes being spicy, I'm happy to tolerate it because the flavors are so worth it! This is definitely going to be a go-to...

I went there at around 6:30 pm with my 5 years old daughter and both of us wore the masks. An old man without mask was sitting next to the door which I did not notice while walking in. I was not sure whether he was a customer. I was looking around for the staff and he indicated me to choose the sweets. I have requested him to give me a particular sweet.

The old man started talking in Hindi which I don't understand clearly. I mentioned that I don't understand Hindi. He started yelling at me and started saying something that I don't completely clear. At some point he refused to sell the sweets and angrily asked me to get out of the store. This was the worst kind of rudeness I faced in any US store, especially my 5 years old daughter was very upset. Then I decided to walk out too.

He was very rude which i never seen anywhere in US. Coming back home, I checked the Yelp and found that others also had similar kind of experience with this old man. I would never recommend anyone to visit this store and have such a...

I went there at around 8 pm. There is an old man sitting inside next to door which i did not notice when i walked in. I was looking for staff to help me with the sweets. The old man yelled from the door and asked me what i want. I said, i was looking for sweets. He yelled back from door and what kind of sweets I want. After i looked at the sweets i felt they are not looking good and looks soggy. He was very rude which i never seen anywhere in US. I showed him a sweet and asked him the name of it. He started yelling at me angrily. He yelled again like not knowing the name of the sweet is my mistake. I couldn't take any more rudeness and started walking out and he started following me back by yelling at me for wasting his time. I said "bhand mae jhao" and left the place.

The place doesn't at all look like the way it is shown in pictures. It's dark...

If you are looking for a place with excellent/authentic Indian food, affordable prices (hello inflation), large portions, and don't mind taking your food to the nearest park or home. This is the place for you! A little hidden gem where you have to talk on the phone, ask for w'hat you most want, pick up your food, and by the way, take the sweets that you most want to have a final sweet (the place has a variety of typical sweets where you can choose a bit of everything). I know the photos don't do the food much justice, but I was hungry and impatient to try the food. Yesterday I had: - Aloo Ticki (spiced, crisp potato patties. Topped with mint and tamarind sauce, onions, and cilantro). - Gobi Masala (cauliflower coated in a masala made with cumin, fennel, ginger, garlic, coriander and secret seasoning. Garnished with cilantro). - Lamb Biryani

Came here half an hour before closing tonight. I got the samosa chaat and a pound of mixed mithai (sweets). The samosas are huge! They're some of the biggest samosas I've seen at a restaurant in a while considering the size everywhere seems to be getting smaller. The sholay were fresh and flavorful. The chutneys on the chaat were yummy as well. This samosa chaat is probably the best that I've had this year. The brown barfi looking pieces were delicious. The mango barfi was decent but the gulab jamuns (brown balls with the coconut) were not cooked thoroughly because all the middles were a bit hard. The service was friendly and the inside looked clean. They've done a good job about separating the register area and by providing hand sanitizer by the door. I'll definitely return!

In 1983 or so, this was one of few Indian restaurants in the area, operating under a different name, and the curmudgeon you encounter there was still a young man! My first visit to this establishment was over 40 years ago, where I had my very veg thali. Since then, I've spent something like 150 days across 10 states, eating meals ranging from 40 Rs. to 4000 Rs., and I still look forward to the treats I buy at Sagar Sweets!
