Discriminatory and highly unprofessional!
I went last night with my partner to the bar looking to have a nice drink and relax after we had a long day.
We approached the bar where there was two empty seats. The counter had dirty glasses and was wet. We sat and waited to be approached.
We were approached by a bartender who had blood shot eyes and appeared to be intoxicated himself. My partner asked for water since he was thirty. The bartender with a very snarky attitude said the water was at a station nearby . We were going to order our drinks and he left.
We waited a long time to be approached by anyone else but they purposely seemed to avoid us. Eventually we asked a female bartender if she could clear the area and take our drink order. She responded to my partner and told him that according to management we could only be served water because we were deemed highly intoxicated!! We were both completely in shock and taken aback as anyone in our situation would be.
I asked for an explanation. She repeated herself and I said what are the signs of intoxication they supposedly see in us because we aren't presenting any . We had just arrived and had not had a single drop of alcohol. I felt discriminated against and so did my partner. We felt they judged his tone of voice and the tempo in which he speaks.
I asked to speak to the manager to which she walked away and came back to tell me i wasn't allowed to speak to them ! What type of manager does not fulfill their role and do the tasks required of a manager especially in situations like this. We left after this whole situation .
Overall we felt embarrassed and indignant over this very...

Every visit to SPSM, I've been meaning to check out Garage Bar but always ran out of luck because they'd close shop or they weren't open at the time. I found it difficult to catch them at the time I'm around. Finally! My dreams came true. I came early to grab a bite to eat and have a drink before I had to leave for a concert. Surprise, surprise...they were open!
Friendly brunette bartender, cute, giggles and all the of the above, she asked the typical questions any bartender would ask, "what would you like to drink?" Scanning through the bottles of whiskey hanging in the back of the bar, I couldn't decide what I wanted. All smiles, she suggested if I wanted something bold or light to taste. I considered for the light tasting and she was kind enough to let me take a sip before finalizing my decision. Delighted, I went for Eagle Trace and Four Roses. As much as I liked both, I didn't have enough time to try others on the list.
Great atmosphere all around! I wish I knew what their operating hours were since I could never get there at the right time, but I'll keep coming back just to get a taste of what the Garage Bar...
Read moreThe bartender was absolutely horrible to me and my colleague. I have never felt less included in a bar. Firstly she did not explain California law that they don’t accept international drivers licenses and instead made me feeel stupid and small; when I asked her for drinks she asked for IDs of ALL people and when I provided it she refused to serve me because of my “attitude” and then called her manager on me … I felt this was pretty racist because she was offended by my English … by attitude all I did was ask her questions about the law and she got offended … this place is unpleasant and unrelaxing because of the female bartender .. she will abuse her power. She makes us feel small and useless, she is not welcoming and not a good person. She made me cry and I dislike this place because of that .. Avoid this...
