Came here with a reservation for 8:45pm on a Saturday. The bar was packed. There were plenty of tables to sit at. The hostess and the server were very nice and friendly. My friend wanted to experience the restaurant week(Jul 11-21) which is part of the 16th Annual Dine Downtown San Jose event. I chose this restaurant based on the good reviews on the food. Since we did come here to take advantage of the restaurant week promotion with restaurants offering prix fixe menus which consist of their more popular food selection at a more attractive price, naturally we tried both the options offered for the event at this restaurant. Everything is served full size. However, I was not impressed with the taste of the food. The food tasted ok, but nothing to rave about. From the deviled eggs to the grilled hanger-steak, they tasted normal, just not any better than other restaurants that I have eaten those dishes before. Actually, the deviled egg was a little tart, the spinach on the sides of the hanger-steak was too salty, and the steak was overcooked. Pizza looks like it came out of the frozen pizza box. The extra topping of Italian sausage that my friend request to be added on the pizza and the shrimp on the gambas al ajillo were bland. Food overall was unimpressive and not memorable. I’m just sharing my own experience…perhaps it is different for others. Since it was a Saturday night, the street was very lively and noisy with loud music. The same was true at this restaurant. It was however not too loud that you can’t have a conversation. Again, the staff provided good service at the restaurant but since I’m just not impressed with the food, therefore I...
Read moreWe made a 6pm reservation on Resy. We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated for a table in the corner that was open when we arrived at 6pm. The restaurant lost an incredible amount of revenue as no employee greeted / acknowledged us, nor the groups of people continually behind us that left with the same frustration. (I feel bad for ownership as this was probably $1000 -$2000 lost business while we were there.) As our first plates of food came out, we had to ask the waiter for plates (as no plates had been given to us beforehand.) When he came back with the plates he was still oblivious as to the fact we didn't have any silverware yet either. (Hence, we had to ask him for silverware.) Eventually we ran out of water. We looked around and the other tables had received a water pitcher, not us. The table next to us complained that they had not received a dish and was tired of waiting for it. They opted to ask to remove the dish from their bill and leave. While we sat patiently (as best we could) we noticed several times that food was being sent to the wrong table. I think what happened was probably their greeter +/- one or two waiters called in sick for their shift on Sunday night. In totality, the service could not have been worse unless they were rude (which they weren't.) The food was acceptable for bar food and the ambience itself was inviting. However, given the abysmal service plus the mediocre food I do not ever see myself returning to this establishment. I can't believe...
Read moreCame here for HH on a Friday afternoon with some co-workers to enjoy a night out, big mistake—should have just gone straight to San Pedro Square Market. Their HH is only 1 hour long (5 PM - 6 PM) not sure if it’s cut short due to COVID hours but they open at 5 PM. They have a small menu for food & drinks that are applicable towards the HH deals ($7 each). I do have to say that the venue is nice, they have a fair amount of outdoor & indoor seating. It’s more on the “boujee” side of eateries. I had ordered a drink & their ceviche. The ceviche was actually pretty good and the cool twist that they do is give plantain chips instead of tortilla chips (though there’s not much flavor from the plantains). There are no paper menus due to COVID, so they have QCR codes placed on the table.
Parking: It’s right in between to San Pedro Square Market and the old Spaghetti Factory. There’s a parking lot across the street that you can park at, but from the other reviews it seems like the District does NOT validate parking. I parked at a friend’s place and walked over. Service: Fair. It seemed like there were not enough servers at the time of opening where they were stretched a little, but it’s understandable due to COVID. Best Part: It’s right next to San Pedro, so you can hop over there right after if you’re unsatisfied. Worst Part: The small HH menu (mainly the drinks menu—I had assumed it was $7 for any drink) Return: Possibly, if they expand...
