Café Cola'o — Restaurant in San Juan

Café Cola’o was recommended to us by our tour guide in San Juan.

To start - I loved this adorable cafe!! I tried the espresso to get a taste of the coffee (which is their house coffee that has a chocolate undertone) and some iced americano to beat the heat! So, I absolutely loved the coffee itself! Unlike other coffee with chocolate notes that I have tried in the past- this one really does have a chocolate after taste! The coffee wasn’t too acidic or bitter. Suffice to say, I would drink this coffee again and again! Best of all, the coffee is locally sourced in Puerto Rico!

My friends liked the croissant and their respective drinks (which were all the specials). I am not a fan of sweet-tasting coffee, so I didn’t enjoy the specials. They also sell coffee beans and a powdered house blend.

I loved the café itself! Absolutely gorgeous art on the walls! Coffee is part of the art as beans, powder and liquid coffee! It is such an inspired art piece! And, a shout out to their staff too - amazing people! They patiently explained their coffee & it is clear how much they know their coffee and love it!

While cycling around, I stumbled upon a cafe on the map that had great reviews, prompting me to make a pit stop. The location turned out to be a gem, with a lovely view of the water and cruise ships from a picturesque overlook. Both indoor and outdoor patio seating options were available, and I opted for a beef empanada and cappuccino. The coffee was visually stunning, with a heart-shaped frothy top that pleased my eyes. The empanada was also quite enjoyable, although not mind-blowing. Overall, it was a great way to refuel after a long bike ride, and the friendly staff made the experience even better.
