I surprised my fiance with a PR get-away. I saw the Navona guesthouse and knew that's where we needed to go. It was a great choice! Right in the heart of Old San Juan, the guesthouse is within walking distance (I mean literal steps) from shopping, food, culture, and more. Attached to a jewelry store, you check in for you room at the counter. Everyone speaks English and Spanish so anyone traveling from the states can rest easy! We had a single room on the 3rd floor (yes it is a walk up- no it is not wheelchair accessible). Anyone that has issues with walking or general mobility issues should maybe consider a commercial location with ramps. The show stopper is the 24/7 roof top lounge access. Absolutely amazing for anyone who wants to just get away from the busyness of the street below. This is not a fancy place with a bunch of staff. You may or may not get a clean towel everyday. There is no ice machine. There is excellent Wi-Fi. No snack machines but again, food is close. There is also super limited parking so just be prepared to walk 3 or 4 blocks from the parking garage.

You get what you pay for. Very small, very basic room, no a/c, no phone, almost no TV channels, bathrooms are held together with caulking, no front desk so late check in and baggage holding is an issue. But it is the least expensive option we could find and was clean and serviceable. In response to the owner/managers. We stayed 2 nights, your beautiful terrace was a rooftop with fake grass and some lounge chairs, also flooded with a few inches of water. TV had very few channels but there was TV . Common areas are nice and it is the best value in the area, but very basic. The hot water handle didnt work in our first room but we figured out that it was locked open and to use the cold to adjust temperature. We were not disappointed and everyone was very nice but it's a 2 star place not 5. I would probably stay there again because I like basic and no frills.

Navona studios This review is regarding room #2 on the 2nd floor. This is not a hotel. From 6pm-10 am you are on your own. You cannot contact anyone not even in the case of an emergency nor issues with your room /stay.

Bedroom/mattress: Within seconds of getting into the room we laid on the bed. Our mattress was so bad that we actually had them come up to our room and try it. When laying or sitting on it you were literally making contact with the springs. The bed had an indentation meaning that the mattress needed to be replaced immediately. They went to another room and put a slightly better mattress on top. The next morning they actually took both old mattresses and replaced it with a new one.

Stained/dirty comforter: The first comforter was stained. When the staff came to replace the mattress they also brought another comforter. That one was clean and so we used that one. The next morning they brought a brand new mattress. So we took the pillows and the clean/un stained comforter and put it on top of our luggage. We put the dirty/stained comforter on the floor with the stain clearly showing. Well, the staff took this stained comforter that was on the floor and that is the one they left in our bed!! We decided to sleep without it. That’s just simply rude.

Floor/cleanliness: The floor was dusty and it didn’t look like it was cleaned before our arrival. And by the way, room service is impossible to get in the first 2 days of your stay. Even if you request it the answer is a “No”. Your room can only be serviced after 2 days and that’s it. No compromise.

Bathroom: toilet is tilted in such a way that your knee almost touched the toilet paper roll. The bathroom sink was very slow at draining the first 2 days and then it simply stopped draining.

Shower/water temperature : as others have noted it is hard to get the correct temperature. Most of our showers were warm at best. The plumbing/water issue is way wrong. My boyfriend is very tall and he had to bend down/scoop down to be able to be under the shower.

Balcony room: it is very noisy as it faces a busy street which I was kind of expecting. Bring ear plugs like I did. Some streets are pretty quiet but not this one. If you are a light sleeper a balcony room is not for you.

In summary the best thing about this place is the location as you are in Old San Juan. However I would never stay here again.

RESPONSE TO NAVONA STUDIOS COMMENT: Yes the mattress was changed the next day. It is written in my initial review. 2 times. Did you not read that? Yes, my husbands request for a daily fresh towel does sound absurd but it is his request wherever we go and everyone is always accommodating except Navona studios. The comforter had that stain was there when we pulled it to get under it when we went to bed. IT WAS A DIRTY COMFORTER. In summary, I would never...

I stayed in a room with my friend. Who had an encounter with the owner and his worker. We were called to go downstairs because there seem to be a problem with the reservation. My friend had booked two rooms and they were saying that she was not charged for two rooms when indeed she was. Under the same credit card. They were then trying to re-charge her with the same amount, even though she was showing her bank statements to them. They were telling her that the amount was pending when it was not. As my friend tried to explain the situation to the man who he would then raise his voice at her without letting her speak. He got so upset and walked away stating the comment, “I am not going to make her understand” with the most unprofessional tone. The owner was more polite and understanding, trying to fix the situation, but the worker wanted to be right. If they had a clear system, they would have known that my friend did indeed booked two rooms, but under two different names. Which seem to be the problem at the end of the day. They blamed her for not letting them know about that. When it wasn’t her fault because they should have in the system that two rooms were booked. They should have seen that the room was already booked by someone else. With the same last name. Instead, they were making it seem like the room was supposed to be empty when indeed it wasn’t. They tired to manipulate her into thinking she was wrong and they kept pushing it even with the confirmation she had shown. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Their service was so awful and the sad part is that they choose to neglect the way they act and respond. The owner should really talk to his workers and let them understand that that’s not how you speak to customers. Because at the end of the day, we are the customers and the customers are always right. That’s basic customer service. We have the confirmation with 2 rooms. We had the evidence and they chose to...

Bedsheets in my room were definitely used by someone else for I found multiple pieces of someone’s long and short hair on the pillow and on the bed - it was very disgusting and not hygienic at all! Used bedsheets means that the place not only disrespects their guests, but also that the hotel is not following basic requirements and expectations from a place like hotel, especially at post-pandemic times when hygiene and disinfection issues should be treated very seriously.||The place is presumably owned by the same three men who own the Jewelery store downstairs. ||After I talked to all 3 men briefly on June 7 2023, I checked in around 3 pm to Navona. I saw my room and communicated to one of Navona managers filthy bedsheets in my room discovered and showed a photo with someone’s long dark hair right on my pillow which I expected to be straightened out when I was going to be back to my room.||After 3 pm I went to the city for sightseeing as the Morro fortress was going to be closed at 5 pm so I had to hurry up, which I communicated to the managers and left.||When I came back to my room in the evening, no bedsheets or pillow case were changed, Navona’s jewellery store downstairs was closed so there was no one I could talk to. I was left with the bedsheets in my room used by someone else before. It was a disgusting experience. Later I had to sleep on towels feeling uncomfortable all night long for nothing had been done.||Also, though I turned off the fan, it still felt cold in the room during the night.||The internet was very slow.||When I asked for money refund - I got boldly declined.||The place is owned by dishonest men who are used to be dealing with obedient tourists agreeing to accept all their countless...
