El Rincón Colombiano PR — Restaurant in San Juan

Usually when I review a restaurant, I do so because I thought that it was very good. That being said, I have to tell you El Rincón Colombiano is very, very good. It has casual atmosphere that is very inviting. You also have the inevitable Colombian motifs around, but everything with good taste and not overbearing. They have an acceptable variety in the bar and authentic Colombian cocktails and refreshments. The food is very affordable and the employees are polite and friendly. The day of our visit all of them were colombians, which reassures you are going to eat the real thing. I ordered Lengua (Cow tongue) with potatoes, green salad and a side of beans , everything was terrific, delightful flavor and the best Lengua I had in a long time. My wife ordered a Cazuela de Frijoles that was excellent. For appetizers we ordered empanada de bacalao (corn cod fish turnovers) and empanada de carne ( beef turnover), they were excellent. We stayed there for about two and half hours, not because slow service, au contraire, service was prompt, but because it was Friday and we took it like a happy hour moment. The place is relatively small, 18 or so tables. They have several parking spots out front. We ordered a cod fish (bacalao) empanada as an appetizer which I found to be salty. I know cod fish is typically salty however you can remove a lot of the salt from it during prep-time.

For an entré we ordered the "Bandeja Paisa" which also turned out to be super salty. The chicharrón was also burnt and unedible. In my experience with other similar Colombian restaurants the quantity was less for a comparable price.

I ordered a natural Passion Fruit juice and that was okay however, my wife ordered one of guanábana and that was just water and sugar.

Horrible service. Limited selection. Decent food but if you're going just for the food there are other colombian restaurants who offer not only amazing food here but also amazing service to the clients. I came in sat ordered i asked for empanadas de carne but they had none nor had any mango juice.my husband was parking the car so he came in after and the waitress never once asked what he wanted she kept serving me and acting as if my husband wasnt there. Also I think the waitress I also the owner which is so strange she isn't fit to be a waitress shes really stern doesnt smile doesnt have a welcoming attitude. I'll stick to the other Colombian restaurant here...
