If you are like me, after eating the traditional local PR food for a week non-stop, and want to have something more "familiar" and take a break from the amazing skirt steaks and fried plantains, then this is your place to go.
All dishes we've had here are fantastic. The risotto was rich, savory and creamy, the fish is tender yet the skin is crispy. The passion fruit cake was not too sweet nor to heavy, made just right.
We had the bartender to be creative and make something for us with mint and no alcohol, and I ended up having probably the most tasty non-alcoholic drink I have ever had in my life. If I remember right, the drink has freshly squeezed lime juice, fresh ginger juice, grapefruit, mint and a kind of local beverage, I forgot the name. The ginger juice gives it a kick, tasted just like a light alcoholic drink without any alcohol in it. Don't take me wrong, I am a whiskey drinker, it's just one of those nights when I didn't feel like drinking, and this drink was just perfect.
The ambient was nice, a bit dark and quiet. The bar tender let us know that there would be live music during the weekends. I wish we...
Read moreI am sad to have to report my bad experience. I found a long, black hair underneath my scrambled eggs, got up with my plate to show my waitress discretely and, was highly disappointed with how it was handled. They treat you like they are doing you a favor! No respect, no discount. Replacing my eggs (I had almost finished) was not the answer. Calle Loiza has so much more to offer- seriously. When you bump into Sabrina's just keep it pushin and walk on by. {I gave it 2 stars instead of one because I liked the decor and menu but you will not be eating the furniture or paper listing what they cook.} A ridiculous fluckin hair when you should be at your best; hello we are still in Covid-19...
Read moreThis is one of the best places we went to in PR. Really comparable if not better than many NYC, JC and Hoboken spots that we frequent locally. The decor is beautiful, with a tropical speakeasy ambiance that is unique compared other places in the area. The drinks are very well made, wonderful service and the food is the best part. We had salmon and pork as mains and taquitos as an appetizer. One of the staff came out and started playing the piano like it was a concert and the hostess took pictures for us posing by the bar. Just make sure you bring vaccination cards or some negative COVID test to enter. If you don't like it then stay home 🙃. Also they have made the menu contactless like many other restaurants and bars in San Juan so make sure your phone is charged so you can scan the QR code and review online....
