I first saw this place during spring break and there was an impenetrable wall of spring break folks having a great time drinking both inside and outside. The place was packed and seemed to handle the crowd but it wasn't for me, I was in for the food and drink. So, after trying 15+ other places for ceviche always passing Zajori on the way the crazy spring breakers finally dissipated and I could enjoy a meal there. Wow, the food was great. The service was great. The place is clean and has a charm with warm wood throughout. The music is not to loud to think or talk with someone. The drinks - I got the big one which are claimed to have 6 shots in them(I didn't feel 6 shots but it taste good and had alcohol for sure - but 6 shots hmmm). My favorite was the frozen passion fruit margarita with strawberry at the bottom - 13$ for this drink is alot to afford so maybe just one but it was tasty. The service - Staff was awesome and welcoming. One slow day, I was served by a young girl working with her mom -very neat and she did a great job. The food - first the ceviche - 4 different types my favorite was the mix but he pulpo(octopus) was some of the best I had out of dozens of other places. They serve the ceviche Peruvian style with toasted corn nuts, sliced onion some yucca and other garnish - this 20+$ ceviche is very very good stuff. Now to the seared 27$ ahi tuna - I got it 3 different times and the chalua rice they prepared with is like no other. The rare seared ahi tuna will make any sashimi and sushi fan very happy to be aboard. The read beans and rice as well as other sides are outstanding - Tell them Jeff from Colorado said "Hi" and he recommends the Passion fruit frozen margarita with fresca at the bottom and don't skimp on the gummies. They also put gummy candies on a skewer that are fun to dip and chew away at. I probably dinned here 12+ times during a month stay and will return the first chance I get. The atmosphere was so nice and comfortable. Sitting inside is a real treat. There are table games for customers to play with before during and after their meals. A lady came over to my table and asked if she could take the ring game from my table to hers, what a cool place. Sitting street side is nice too. There are 4 tables that you can enjoy watching the nite life roll by and see the customers across the way enjoying a quick grab and go meal at Hot BBQ and Sandwiches at...
Read moreI'm being generous with the rating only because one of the SEVERAL servers/bartenders was actually nice with a sense of customer service; eventually realizing how long I went without service and then how unreasonably long my order took to be completed. I'll even give the benefit of the doubt being that I visited on New Year's day.
This being said, the service needs to be improved drastically. Wait/turnaround time was unacceptable for how light traffic was in the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't remotely full, I observed another client waiting for a really long time (she was already sitting and waiting by the time I arrived) for 3 FISH TACOS, and just barely got her order before I did. I ordered a medium steak with mashed potatoes (not the most complicated dish on the menu - perhaps one of the simplest besides their rice dishes) and still waited over an hour for the food to the point the server asked me to wait because I was going to pay for my drink and walk out. The actual dish was presented nicely but lost its appeal due to the wait time, and honestly, the simplicity of the dish. Taste was okay but not superior to other local spots having similar dishes on their menu.
I can't comment on the nightlife as I visited mid afternoon for my experience. However, the restaurant decor was hit or miss (not sure if they were aiming for casual or something else). I sincerely hope the next time I visit, it will be a greater experience and perhaps, a...
Read moreMe and my fiancé came here during our stay in Puerto Rico, and we absolutely loved every second of it. Trying to find parking was kinda hard, but that has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. Right off the bat the environment was very vivid and welcoming. They had dominoes and uno cards at the table we were at, the larger tables also had jenga towers. The mojito menu is huge, we went with strawberry kiwi and blue coco, highly recommend both. They do have a decent amount of vegetarian options, but we just went with a side of mofongo, rice and beans, and salad. It all came out super hot and delicious. We finished every drop of our food, the mojitos were huge and we both ended up only drinking about half each. Everything was super delicious. The customer service was amazing. Highly recommend and when we come back will definitely...
