We went on a family PR vacation to celebrate our birthdays and vow renewal. 8/2023.Our family members, including ourselves rented Apts 1-4. For starters, I think the reviews and website are misleading. They promote a luxury apt in the San Juan district that quite honestly is in the hood and ghetto. The apt floors were not clean, water pressure to sink and shower were horrible, one of the bedrooms where my 4 year old granddaughter was sleeping, had a large amount of paint chips falling from ceiling on a daily basis. We requested bath towels that were included with the reservation, and didn't receive them until almost the end of the stay, and 2 bath towels at that. To put the icing on the cake, they had a man who appeared to be a drug addict in the neighborhood that was threatening our family members. I did send these details to the survey to Apt by Dw, and yet no response... We would not recommend this place to anyone!!!
In response to your response, I am Puerto Rican and my husband is African-American. Despite attempting to respond to my review , you have further made the experience worse by stating that I stated racist remarks. We are not racist, nor did I state any racist or derogatory remarks in my review. I merely was honest about our experience. You are correct. We chose your location "based on the good reviews ", that to be quite honest, I am not sure how legit they are. In regards to contacting APT Dw, do you really think after renting apartments 1-4, and all of us having issues while on vacation and having planned activities, we were going to reach out every single time? It ruins the vacation, if you constantly require customer assistance from a booked location that you will not receive credit or change the location.
Lastly, you mentioned to call the authorities? To reiterate, we are of Puerto Rican decent. We are familiar with the area. Do you suppose we cause additional conflict with a man who claimed he was part of a gang, a drug dealer and would send people to harm us and blow up your apartments?? Police Officials will not and cannot manage PR crime.
Thank you but no thank you. Again we will not return or recommend your property. For all those are considering, yes please do extensive research on the area and...
Read moreWe stayed at Apt by DW, specifically Apt 8 for two nights. We are two adults and a teenager. The pictures of the apartments are fairly accurate although, there does seem to be some wear and tear - the light fixture in the main bedroom is fraying, and the bathroom light wouldn’t turn off (which they took care of immediately when I notified them). The design is interesting but I do think some function was sacrificed for the design - specifically the bathroom sink. For anyone has to who bend down to wash their face, it is very awkward to do so and there’s a fear of hitting your head on the mirror above. The apartment was very clean when we checked in.
The beds were comfortable and we loved the A/C. I really enjoyed the outside bathtub, that was definitely a unique feature.
The location is probably not for everyone as it feels more up and coming, and there’s definitely some less charming aspects to the area - a ton of graffiti, smoke shops, and unfortunately a next door neighbor with a rooster that never shuts up (please note this for any light sleepers). There are some cute boutiques and coffee shops to enjoy though. We had a fantastic Mexican meal at Acapulco Taqueria and the Walgreen’s is very close by.
I think this is a great place for younger adults or for people who want to be in a less touristy area of San Juan. We had no issues finding parking and it’s a less than 10 minute drive to...
Read moreAPT by DW - an absolute gem of an Airbnb in such a convenient, walkable area! We stayed with DW for a week, splitting our stay between here and DUNA and both were lovely for their own reasons. We found DUNA to be more quiet and perfect place to find romance and quiet. APT was a bit more bustling with people and the street it’s on is a lot more residential than DUNA is but still very walkable to amazing restaurants and nightlife.
APT had lovely fixtures and the outdoor areas of the building are very thoughtful and zen-like. We loved the greenery and many places to stay and have a seat. The shower was amazing, kitchen lightly stocked with coffee and tea, and just a very cute place to call home for a while.
I would recommend any traveling to Puerto Rico to simply be open minded to the whole experience and you will have a great experience. Don’t judge a street based on its facade - I see other comments of this street being “sketchy” but despite its looks, the people of this neighborhood were nothing but friendly and welcoming. Eat at the less popular restaurants, travel down the residential streets, shop at the small corner markets, EXPLORE and enjoy everything PR has to offer. And above all, stop at Dream Catcher for breakfast or dinner with Victor on Friday - THE CUTEST place in all...
