My women's group was there 4/28/23. In the middle of the meal one of the host came and gave the bill right after the last person was served about 20-30 minutes after the rest of the table had been served. This was no problem as she had been told her food would take longer (15 to 20 minutes). The host told us we needed to pay while we were still eating. We stated we were not finished and some wanted cake. He stated again the bill needed to be paid as the server was off and needed his tip to close out the bill (the tip was included in the bill). He then had the server comeback and list the desserts. Several were ordered, the host came back with a new bill and told us we needed to pay. We said ok, not being very concerned as we were still eating, we kept talking. He said we had been there an hour and needed to pay the bill. I guess he forgot or did not know the last meal had just been served. Three of us asked if this was policy as we eat there frequently and this has never happened, he stated we needed to pay as the server had to close out the check, and needed to get his tip and leave as he had been there all day. Again asked when/if this was policy and when did it begin. We were told that this is the policy, pay the bill. We then began computing who owed what as he again stated we needed to pay even though our meals were still being eaten. He stood there, left and returned until the bill was paid. We paid a few minutes later and basically were told this is the way it is and pay it without asking questions. We are a group of Black women who all eat there frequently and this has never happened in over 20 years. Elio's is this a new policy? If so youmaybe or in some cases, will be losing a certain market of regulars. One of the women eating with us asked to see the manager as we were leaving. The manager happened to be the same person telling us to pay right then. When he saw it was one of us, he tried to go in a different direction. We walked beside him, as he was turning at the end of the counter. She informed him she belongs to the Customer Service Association of America and this was not customer service. He then stated he hoped we enjoyed our meals and have a great day, comeback again or see you soon, my response: NEVER. To old to be treated this way by anyone and pay you for treating me badly. Elio's, such a disappointment to me as you are a community staple and...
Read moreThe atmosphere in Elios is nice and can get very busy for breakfast. This time we came in for dinner but the lunch and dinner food was semi decent. And for a place that caters to senior citizens this place is pricey. I know prices have gone up everywhere but if a place like Elios, that's been around for a long time, is going to raise their prices it should also be reflected in the quality of food they serve. They do serve great breakfast but lunch and dinner plates really need work. We had the French dip, the meat is very very dry. The blue steak salad is a huge plate of mostly lettuce served with a sweet berry vinaigrette dressing which should be served with a blue cheese dressing. The Milano chicken sandwich, the chicken was practically burnt and way too much pesto sauce. We decided to have something sweet. The chocolate cake was ok but expected since all their desserts are bought outside. And two mochas, which are very good here. My family and I have been coming here for years and we also have gotten to know some of the long term servers because of that. A lot of them are great people and enjoy speaking to them. But we have had a few very unpleasant experiences with one or two servers here and always make sure not to sit in their station. I think it's time to reevaluate cutting back or going to Elios...
Read moreMy daughter and I went to Elios on 5/15/19 at about 5:00pm. We had the strangest experience. There was a guy behind the counter ( short stature, Hispanic) on the phone. He did not acknowledge our presence at all! We stood there for about 4 minutes and he continued to talk on the phone!!! It would have been totally acceptable to me if he would have just said âhello, I will be with you shortly âbut no, nothing! Then finally a rude young lady comes to us and just says âhow manyâ thatâs it! She literally marches to the back of the restaurant and THROWS the menu on the table and briskly walks away. Whatâs up Elios? I told my daughter âIâm not feeling thisâ and she said â me eitherâ. So we left and had a very nice meal across the street at Nickâs with a lovely staff! Which I tipped very well ( like I always do). Elios you lost a customer today and I will let all my friends, family and coworkers know! Next time skip the rude service and quite frankly mediocre food and go to Nickâs ( just...
