Nautical Bean — Restaurant in San Luis Obispo

If you're looking for a good find around SLO, Nautical Bean is quite the treasure. Needed a quick coffee fix without trying to go to a coffee chain and saw Nautical Bean a couple of blocks from the motel I was staying at.

When I walked in it was an in-your-face of all the knick knacks and trinkets found all around. It was such a quirky, spacious, and relax atmosphere. For a coffee shop it had enough tables to do be a restaurant. There were old-school arcade machines and walls filled with many paintings and decor.

My friend and I opted to get the Carmel Sutra (iced), a maple muffin, and a breakfast burrito. There was a wait time since there were a lot of people and a handful of people making drinks and food. Nothing too bad, we weren't in any rush.

First sip and bite made the wait justifiable. The Caramel Sutra was the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness, a little more coffee which I prefer. As for the maple muffin. . . O M G! The muffin was warmed up and that made all the difference in the world. The glaze was maple but I think the rest was a form of cinnamon. Whatever the combo, it was a wonderful combo! As for the breakfast burrito, it was perfect the way it was and it was also perfect to share.

Everything was delicious, great in price, and the service was great. If you're traveling through SLO and need a pick-me up, sail your way to Nautical Bean. One of the hidden gems that you can't...

Nautical Bean PROS: Great for working! Plenty of outlets available for charging devices Friendly and welcoming service! The patrons seem to be made up of regulars who frequent this place often Fun and colorful decor -- hammerhead shark, Elvis portrait, skateboards, and local art. Laidback, chill vibe Good playlist Fun menu with lots of drink options and healthy food options. Their "House Drink" menu looks interesting and unique Cabbage & Chicken Salad is fresh and large, but the dressing is a little bland. Also, the ramen noodles are an odd touch Tuna Melt tastes fresh and healthy. Not greasy like most melts I've tried. The side of cabbage slaw is very underwhelming. Overall, the food is just okay. Super easy parking Convenient location by lots of shopping and eateries. Nice outdoor seating Good wifi They offer "sippy" lids now to replace the use of straws

CONS: A little on the dim side. Other than that, everything else is perfect....

Normally, I really enjoy nautical bean and been going there for years. Today they were a little busy and the nutty bean. Their main coffee was out and so ice called out nicely. "Hey you got a nutty bean back there", that was it nothing more, nothing less, just so anyone that's in the back counter could hear that it was out.And on their own time,while hustling and multi tasking come and switch it out. The girl came over was rude. Said, I yelled practically spilt hot coffee on me. All over the counter Switching out the very large nutty bean. Because it's not like the other ones and then proceeded to reprimand me even though I just made one little sentence loud enough for them to hear no rude comment.No, hey, can you guys get that out here now!!!!?None of that.
