Ocean Nails & Spa — Local services in San Luis Obispo

Used to love coming to this place with the previous owners. They were quick, thorough, friendly, and the price was right. I did not realize they had changed ownership when I made my appointment but decided to give them a shot anyway.

They have raised their prices a bit for a pedicure, but overall the result was pretty good. My main complaints are:

TIME - it took way too long for just a basic pedicure. I was in there for an hour and a half! One employee cut and filed my nails, and then another employee sat down and cut and filed them again! While I appreciate the attention to detail, it took an hour before we even got to the polish… so don’t make an appointment here if you have somewhere to be after.

HYGIENE - when the second employee sat down, after she trimmed and filed my toes for a second time. She scraped all the gunk out from under my toe nails, and then preceded to scrape it onto my foot in order to remove it from her tool…. SO GROSS. My feet are literally on top of a towel that you can scrape it on. You just spent an hour cleaning and scrubbing my feet, and now you are just scraping my own toe jam back onto my foot. It was such a huge turn off.

Overall, the pedicure was fine, prices have gone up but I’d say it was thorough enough to justify. They took way too long, and the toe jam thing was absolutely unacceptable. I probably will find...

I've been getting my nails done by Dan for years, and I'm SO excited that he's finally started managing his own shop! He's always been the only person I trust with my nails -- his attention to detail is unmatched, and he consistently delivers flawless results every single time.

The salon is clean, welcoming, and has such a relaxing vibe.

Dan takes his time to make sure everything is perfect, and you can really tell he cares about his clients and his work. My nails have never looked better, and I always leave so happy with my nails!!! He truly is an amazing artist.
