Obviously pretty popular place as it was pretty full, and took a few minutes to wait for someone to leave so I could park. Small lot. Got the impression this place had a lot of regulars. Sat at the counter and they seemed to know the people on either side of me, even what they would order. Ordered a large Mexi-kat Mocha coffee $7, but was only charged for bottomless coffee $4.09. very tasty. Got the breakfast sandwich with hash browns for $12.95. it was good, but for that price, maybe a little dollop of cottage cheese or some fruit would be a nice add. Service was prompt. Quickly refreshed my water a couple times too. Everyone was very nice and lots of smiles.
An update, I was there today for the second time this week, and very different experience. It's a Saturday, and we waited over an hour. Bummer, but it's popular obviously. Our food was delivered very quickly, so it was surprising that they arent turning tables faster. We had to flag someone down after 15 minutes at our table to even have a server come by. In any case, I got the Denver Omelette this time. Usually a thick full stuffed omelette with ham, and lots of veggies and cheese. For $20 I'd expect nothing less. Yes, $20 for maybe the most ordinary and underwhelming Denver omellette I've ever had. This omellette was no thicker than a single pancake, with maybe a dozen tiny pieces of ham and peppers. That's it. No cheese on the inside as I could see. It was just a slathering of melted, not hot hot, cheese on top. It came with toasted bread, I chose rye, and it was at some point warm toast, maybe 20 minutes prior. It was barely above room temp and you couldn't tell if there was any butter on it, it was that scant. The home fries were soft and soggy. It seemed everything was probably sitting under a heat lamp and why we got our food so fast. My two friends were also far from impressed with their meals. Safe to say, none of us will be back. The flavored lattes are good, and maybe I'll come just for that. I would have taken a pic, but was distracted with friends I hadn't seen in years, and embarrassed I...
Read moreSo for the very first time we got to try this place. We always drive by and its packed on the weekends. We decided to have a late brunch. Been hearing a lot of good things about Mama Kat's but I wanna say there's to muCh hype. First of the service was 5 Stars! I'm rating the quality of the food FYI. 58 dollars on 2 breakfast plates, 2 kids meals, 2 kids drinks, and 1 coffee seem like dinner prices and not breakfast! Ok so the 3 main things they are known for are their chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, and chicken and waffles. Come to find out they are out of the first 2 and I'm not a fan of chicken and waffles.! So I go with the create your own omelette for 15 dollars plus additional toppings that start at 1.50. I get Italian sausage, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, and onions(1.50). I'm expecting to see sliced or diced sausage in it to my surprise their version of sausage you are gonna need to use a microscope to find it because the onion and jalapeno were the biggest thing on the omelette. Keep in mind that they are diced! The sausage was as big as sea salt grains and they are relatively small! Really you are gonna charge 15 bucks and not have the Common Courtesy to throw some chunks of meat on the damn thing! To be honest I felt Cheated by this place. I was hangry so I ate it anyway but to be honest I never would spend my money here again. Like I said the service was good and we gave a generous tip. But there's way better places for breakfast and at better pricing around. To...
Read moreI haven't been here in a few years and it sure has changed, not for the better. Food: I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. My over medium eggs were perfectly cooked. The chicken fried steak was a little hard but tasty. The gravy was a little bland. Not bad, just blah. Now to the home fries...they were gross. They were greasy and loaded with something sweet. I took about 5 bites to try to figure out the taste but the greasy, sweetness was messing with my taste buds and ruining the rest of the food. I pushed them aside. Service: I went an hour before they closed and it was busy. By the time I was seated, about 15 minutes after arrival, the majority of the restaurant was clearing out. The servers were mostly doing side work and chatting. I was a server for a lot of years and that's typical. I had no problem with that but I did have a problem with my server not bringing me the jam I asked for when he brought my food. He then didn't come back for 20 minutes and never asked me how my food was or if I needed anything else. He did spend over 10 minutes outside, changing a garbage bag, and chatting with someone(I think it was an employee or boss). I gave up on trying to get jam. Plus, he came back in, took an order at the next table, and I don't think he washed his hands. Lastly, he kept calling all the women, including myself, "darling". That irked the hell out of me. I don't think I will...
