Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in San Marcos

If a site wants people to give reviews about places, they need to make it to where we either can write a review without having to give any stars or make a "0 stars" option. From what I saw, 98% of the reviews about this place are negative and all of the experiences are the same. For us to have to give this place "1 star" is doing this place too much justice and it's why they have a 3.whatever b.s. rating score. My husband and I were stopped at a light across from Sonic.He asked me if I've ever eaten there & I said nope, never wanted to. He starts telling me how great the burgers and shakes are. That's his way of letting me know when he wants something so I pulled in. We get up to the menu board and he asked me what kind of shakes they have. Read em all off he picked caramel. Irl over speaker asks for our order. Just a minute .What size? He said large. At the same time I'm saying a large caramel shake, my eyes scanned the menu to the price "7.99 FOR A FKNG SHAKE? ARE YOU FKNG SERIOUS?" Neither the girl or my husband said anything. Then, they have a sign sticking out of the top of the menu board hat has 5 menu items supposedly...

Slow at night... In the parking stalls...plus never give you napkins with Hot Fudge Sundaes...update 06/2025 now they've raised the price for a Sundae which is now a dollar higher now and their service still sucks! They had 3 or 4 guys in there! I first went over to the parking stalls sat there for 5 minutes, nobody answered, there was six cars in the drive and I think there was four employees. I just only went there for a hot fudge sundae it took them 8 minutes to deliver that to me in the Drive-Thru! ( I still would of been waiting for them to answer in the drive-in stall ) Meanwhile they're in the kitchen goofing off! High fiving each other, I swear if I was their manager I'd say, " if I'm paying you $25 an hour I expect productivity!" This place someday is going to go out of business and nobody's going to miss it. And on top of that still no napkins you still have to ask for napkins what's up with that Sonic??? Oh and by the way by the time I got my hot fudge Sunday it was more like a hot fudge shake and I was being nice and courteous to the employee. I couldn't tell if he was high or if was Jeff...

I usually love Sonic but this was my first visit to this location and I was very disappointed. I was the only car in the drive thru and it took 3+ to even be greater. Once the young man came on he spoke so softly that I had to ask him to repeat himself twice. Once my order was placed there was 1 car ahead of me. Their order took at least 5 minutes of me waiting. Once they left I pulled up and I never saw an employee for 5 min. I could understand if they were busy but they weren't. The employee greeted me, took my $ and went back inside. He returned with my food & drink then asked if I needed anything else. I didn't have a straw & asked for some ketchup...back inside he went. And each time he went inside he had to electronically open the door. He came back with my straw, no ketchup, but I was done with this horrible experience. I ordered the BLT combo w/tots. The menu board picture shows this sandwich on toasted bread...mine was on a bun with NO tomato. Unfortunately, this experience was awful. I truly do like Sonic but I won't be coming to this...
