Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream San Marcos — Restaurant in San Marcos

What a great way to spend a Friday! It's always a good time for ice cream in my mind but Handel's holds an extra special place in my heart. It no wonder Handel's has been creating yummy ice cream for as long as they have been. Their flavors are the best and each created with unique, fresh flavors. I got the banana cream pie, coconut cream pie, coffee chocolate chip, and orange dream and each was equally as delicious. I have to say if I had to pick a favorite out of this sampler bunch it would be the coconut cream pie, loaded with fresh coconut and the banana cream pie,, loaded with fresh banana's. So many great flavors, can't wait till the holidays roll back around for Handel's Egg Nog and peppermint stick ice creams.

The San Marcos location is in a great spot, lots of local shopping and dining around. Grab a bit to eat and some desert or make the sampler your meal (ice cream is my favorite food group). The staff is friendly as well. Close to the freeway, no reason not to stop by and treat yo self! We were lucky enough to attend the Yelp Elite week event. Came today around 2:30. Girl working there was visually angry with just having to do her job. No line at all just some people happily enjoying a treat at the tables. Sadly she treated me like she hated my guts for patiently waiting for her to finish what she was doing. I didn’t even call out to her to come help me because I know how annoying that can be from when I use to have a service job. I don’t care for smiles and cheery attitudes I get it. Don’t have to hate me because I just wanted some ice cream.

My friend who was with me asked for two different flavors in her cup and the worker girl said they don’t do that. Just lying to us since we had always gotten two diff flavors in our cups before. Please correct me if this is actually against store policy. If so, I am sorry. On the other hand…

Screw this place. I’ll stick with the frozen yogurt place nearby. Or go here during the night shift. Workers are a lot more happy being there...

We were so excited to try out Handel's after visiting their Encinitas location a year ago.

Loved that there were so many flavors to choose from, including some really unique ones. We opted for a hot fudge sundae which came with a flavor of our choice, brownie pieces, nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry. I would've taken a pic of it, but when it was handed to me, it was already dripping on the sides, I think partly due it also being a warm summer night :)

When we got there, there were 3 main windows, but everyone seemed to be confused on how the line was working like if we should have been lining up in each window or if it was one long line and then an employee would call up the next customer. Nonetheless, within 15 minutes we ordered and got our order.
