Boudin SF — Restaurant in San Marcos

Our experience was so terrible and I'm not one to go around and leave reviews because I simply dont have the time for it but I felt like I really needed to do this. First, we had to clean the dirty table ourselves. Second, we ordered soup in a bread bowl and got it in a regular bowl. When we asked for a bread bowl when the waitress came to give us our food, she said that the bread bowl was extra and that she could bring us the bread itself and we could put in our own soup in it. The third problem was that you'd think when you order a meal(Chk1934-order 96) you'd get just that. I didn't k ow that I would be getting a hard slice of toast with mashed avocado and a small amount of egg on it. If that's what y'all call avocado toast then that is sure ashame especially because its al most 10 dollars. I didn't even know that the meal came with a side and when I asked no one told me anything. So it's too much work to get me a what i ordered in the first place, its to much to ask for silver ware, it's to much for me to ask a simple question because these young girls working give around attitude when I ask for anything. I'm not one to go around and leave reviews but I'm definitely not going to just walk away without saying my piece. If you go to a restaurant respect goes both ways from a custo.er to a worker and the other way around. Just...

My mother and I both ordered the Sourdough French Dip sandwich. The bread was excessively chewy, almost unchewable, a sign of too much gluten, and of baking staff who don't understand bread. There was only about half the roast beef on our sandwiches than what is pictured on their website, and it was bland. The au jus dip was unusually dark and thick, and tasted like salty mud. One salad had enough balsamic vinaigrette to make you involuntarily pucker. Through the huge glass wall looking into the baking area we could see recently made cookies on several 6' racks. We asked to have some of these, but were told they were for tomorrow. The ones we were given from the not-full case were undercooked, with grainy sugar still present, and fell apart upon lifting from case. When I walked by the kitchen door there was a strange, unpleasant, non-food smell. Perhaps mold or mildew. A rotting sort of smell.

While I appreciate management that listens to customers' concerns, and the "response from owner" seems to imply management might see these, it seems time would be better spent correcting these issues than giving the appearance of doing so. EXTREMELY disappointed with this location!!! Sent my husband to pick up food based on their online menu but he was told that even though the Waldorf Salad is on their menu, they no longer make it so I chose the Thai Chicken Salad...same thing...on their menu but they no longer make it. We were also wanting some grain bread/roll of some kind...yep, you guessed right...they didn't have anything like that because supposedly their ovens weren't working today so they didn't bake anything. This is CLEARLY a lack of care and concern by that store's leadership and a complete disregard and respect for their customers. In this day of online information, there is zero excuse for an outdated website and a complete waste of time and travel expense to drive to this location based on their online menu. Had their menu been accurate, we would have gone elsewhere instead of having to change our ENTIRE order because of management's negligence or laziness, not finding it important or proper to maintain accurate online information and/or properly working machinery.
