I hadn't been here in a good 5 years!! The sandwich artist was a little punk! NOTHING special about the sandwiches ANYMORE!! NOT IMPRESSED!!!!! It'll be another 5 years if I go back!!!
Edit: so my husband begs me to go get him a meatball sandwich from your establishment. And I think to myself, 'okay, might as well get something whilst I'm here'. I go with the California Club because it's simple and only a complete numb nuts could mess that up, right? Well, open mouth, insert foot! One of the main reasons that I ordered that California Club, was because it's a simple sandwich to make and it USUALLY HAS just the right amount of avocado on it. I also ordered extra onions on that sandwich, as well. I picked up my order approximately 7:30 p.m. because my husband leaves for his job at 8:00 p.m. and this is going to be his dinner/ overnight snack. I'm on his schedule, so this is going to be my dinner / overnight snack as well. So at approximately 10:30pm when I finally open up my sandwich and eat it, it's really dry. I physically peel the sandwich apart and notice there's not one drop of avocado on my California Club at all and there's barely any onions on it!! What gives guys? My husband sent a text stating that his meatball sandwich was disgusting but since that's all he brought to eat and he can't leave the site, he had to eat that. We grew up eating this stuff, so we can remember when these sandwiches were the best around! It is so disappointing and heartbreaking that this place is nothing like it used to be. When I think of Austin Texas, I think of Thundercloud Subs but now that's a distant memory. I do understand that things change with the times but the California club sandwich should not. Maybe you guys are getting your meatballs from a different supplier now? Maybe you're going with a cheaper company? I mean I guess you guys can't help it if we don't like the actual taste of the Meatballs but not making the California Club correctly, you guys CAN help. It's almost 11:00PM at night and I don't know whether to starve until you guys open at 10:30 tomorrow and bring you the half of the sandwich that I didn't eat, so that I can get it remade correctly? That doesn't really seem fair to ME, does it? I am starving and this is all I have since my husband takes the car every night. You guys have put me in a bind. But I guarantee that this will be the last very time, we waste our time and money on THUNDERCLOUD SUBS. You know and something told me to not do the pickup order, but physically go in there instead and watch the workers make our sandwiches, just so something like this wouldn't happen. Read moreMy husband and I each received a coupon for a free sub after we donated blood in January. We went to redeem our free subs today and were shamed for wanting to use the coupons. We were told one coupon per customer, but since we are two people that were each given our own coupon we didn't think it was going to be a big deal. The woman at the drive through definitely thought it was a big deal and insulted us for trying to break the coupon policy. It was crazy! I even offered to come inside and place a separate order for my sub, but was told I could not do that either. When I showed up at the pick-up time, the person helping me explained there must have been a glitch in the system that didn't alert them in advance of the order. No worries at all because the team immediately got busy preparing our order, making sure I got everything I needed in a more-than-timely manner, providing me a drink in the meantime, and doing it all with a smile of their face! I understand that in the customer service industry, things happen that are out of the control of the people on the front-line, and the San Marcos team rolled with the punches to make sure we were taken care of very quickly.
