Im really curious to know who is writing these reviews. Me and my husband stopped to eat here while visiting in san marcos, first of all we werent expecting anything great we were just hungry and wanted mexican food. Right after the lady took our order a huge cockroach crawled across the wall by our booth. I tried to ignore it because i know cockroaches exist and unfortunately they sometimes end up in restaurants and grocery stores... But this place should be closed. There were flies, shrimp on the floor under our table and food and trash everywhere. We had two different people take our order, first we asked for shredded chicken nachos with jalepenos, they bring out steak nachos, no jalepenos. Then i ordered chicken fajitas double rice no beans with flour tortillas. still gave me rice and beans and no tortillas. Says shes going to bring tortillas and 15 mins go by before she comes back empty handed askin if we needed anything and looks completely surprised when she forgot tortillas. Anyways i ended up just taking my food with me because it was already cold by the time i got my tortillas and i was still uneasy about a giant cockroach crawling around our food. Well i get to our room and go to try and stuff down my food because i really didnt want to waste money and i was starving, and i notice theres still a produce sticker on a piece of bellpepper... Im just disgusted its not that hard to keep a clean sanitary place for people to eat i would never...
Read moreI drove in from Wimberley to San Marcos to do some shopping and decided to do an early lunch. I have never been to Taqueria Mazatlan but it looked pretty popular with all the cars around it so I pulled in. The place is fairly nice on the inside and everyone was really friendly. They have a buffet with plenty of food but I wanted to try there Huevo Rancheros so I sat at a table and had the cutest little waitress bring me a cup of coffee and a menu as soon as I sat down. She may have been small but she has the biggest smile ever..;) This is the second place in San Marcos that had the Rancheros sauce on the side in a separate container. Maybe it's the new thing. Anyway, the food came fast and there were plenty of potatoes and a couple of slices of bacon with refried beans. Also, come with 3 different sautes and chips. The beans were a little grease for me and the chips were a little harder than I like, but the price was under 7 dollars and you gotta love that. One other point of interest, that's the first bathroom I've ever been in that has...
Read moreExcellent food, no complaints here. They said that they didn't make the rice yet for the day, so they checked if they had extra rice from the previous day, which they didn't, so they substituted potatoes instead (which is actually what I was hoping for). The potato dipped in the refried beans was good. Prices were great, about $10-$15 per person. The service was friendly and VERY fast. Be warned that while the waitress can speak a little English, you'll have to explain things slowly, or just talk in Spanish. Seems like they had the full menu (breakfast and lunch) all day, but the buffet starts at 10am. I got the Texas plate, but substituted chicken enchiladas instead of the default cheese enchiladas. Since we liked the food, we're looking forward to going back again to try the...
