Surfing Crab San Marcos — Restaurant in San Marcos

After my second time visiting, I decided to write a review. Immediately when I walk in I notice how nicely the restaurant is decorated and how clean it seems. Theres a bar area, a main dining area, a party room, and outside seating with rails for littles to run around. I think it would be really fun for kids (and adults) to play 'I Spy' in the dining area. The restrooms are also updated and clean which is a sign of a well run restaurant in my opinion. The only negative thing I would say is the floors have some mildew around the edges.

The food: My friend and I split combo #2 with green and black mussels and 2 clusters of snow crabs and the hush puppies. It also came with eggs and potatoes in the old bay spices. The second time we came, today, we ordered a pound of snow crab and a half a pound of dungeness crab and green mussels, also with a side of hush puppies. Ive never seen my friend so happy with her food, and she's got high standards so I know it's good when she goes into a zone. Seriously, yall. Do yourself a favor and go..We were stuffed and the price was just right for us (~$30-35 each with tip)

The service: great both times. Sahara and Camron(i think) were both attentive, quick, and friendly. They seemed to be well staffed for the traffic they get and the staff seemed happy too. I love the silly hats and flare they wear too, and I think they do too. Also a big green flag for this place.

Very clean, very efficient, quick to place the fried seafood order. The only problem is that it didn't fit for me. Perhaps it will for you so I will give you that. I went on a date night. Perhaps it would have been better with a family or large crowd. There's just a lot of fast food places that do fried seafood much better & tastier at better prices. The service was good. The place was nice & cool with the mural. But the noise was off the hook and I really didn't think the food was anything other than thick fried coating. I will give 3 stars because I had to wait 1hr 15min to be seated (a party of 9), when they had about 8 tables open in the patio. After we got seated we ordered drinks and appetizers, we had to wait 20mins to get our drinks water/ sodas and about 30mins for appetizers (only ordered 3, onion rings, wings and fried calamari). It seemed they didn’t know how to handle a big group. Because people of 5 guests or less were seated right away. The food was super delicious, full of flavor worth the wait.
