Flautas and a La Paz burrito. BAM!!!
It's one of the best ways to end a night. The la paz has shrimp, carne asada so it's a bit of a surf and turf, btu the rice is light and fluffy, perfect amount of tomatillo sauce. Douse that with 3-4 green tomatillo salsa packets and your set. The carne is flavorful, but could be juicier, the shrimp is cooked to perfection and the tortilla's aren't over cooked and hold up well if ever so slightly doughy.
Flautas over rolled's every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Something about the crispy puffy flour tortilla reign supreme over the traditional corn. Must get the sour cream, guacamole and cotija cheese, though not as trady on the guac or crema fresca instead of SC the salsa's from the bar make up for it with everything from roasted, heat, sweet, mild, vinegary and plus they have the sweet roasted onions which go good on every bite.
The burrito's are fairly large and not to be trifled with if you aren't that hungry.
Tip: use the carrots bag to line your carrot tray then fill with salsa as it's easier for dipping and pouring than 10 little cups.
Price can be a little pricey when going for this go to meal, but late night doesn't have to be mean grease filled erto's or insufficiently carbed authentic burrito's, you get the best of both with this. Their cali's though use potatos for those looking for the more traditional French fries.
The location is isolated and sometimes dark, but the shop is bright and lit up, but could be cleaner. Drive thru courtesy is ok, but it's better inside. It can get busy which why I'm not docking them too much for having a slightly dirtier than expected establishment.
Beans are little runny and lack the clean flavors of refried's. Plenty of cheese on everything they use and they skimp on the lettuce as they should.
It's great for lunch because they are staffed up, but I tend to be a vampire for Mxn and only come at night for the skeleton crew. Wrappers are good until they become see thru. Way better to eat right away as something is lost when you take home or...
Read moreFor the uninitiated like me who visit Tony's Fresh Mexican, you will be able to find your favorite Latino meal inspired by Mexico. I arrived at Tony's about 1:15pm. I ordered a dozen taquitos to go for my party of 6 who sat in dark for a popular 3 hour movie.
Specifically, I ordered these:
Beef taquitos with all the toppings guacamole, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream; Cheese only topped taquitos and Plain taquitos!🌮
End Game, the block buster Avengers Marvel movie was playing a couple of blocks down the street so restaurant was empty when I walked in, but that did not last long because a long line formed after I ordered. I guessed that folks in line went to movie when I saw one dressed in Marvel T-shirt so I asked if it just ended. They said yes.
While I was waiting, I filled up tiny containers with salsa and paper trays stacked with pickled carrots. Loved complimentary salsa bar and warm jalapenos in crockpot.
Maria and Bernice took my order and they were so kind and patient! I was overwhelmed by the extensive menu!
Delicious delicious delicious delicious delicious! Tony's taquitos are tops!

Read moreOur second time here; this time, for breakfast . . . or did we already do that? About two blocks away and the wife says, “we hadn’t tried the breakfast burritos yet.”
We drive up around 8:30 on a soccer Saturday morning only to find the breakfast burrito menu doesn’t have the usual, #1 - eggs, bacon, potatoes, ham - or whatnot, cheese and eggs. No, they made us think at 0-f’in 8:30 in the morning. Do we go for the ‘the Special’ or the “Supreme Breakfast Burrito” with damn near everything including chorizo and ‘sour cream’. What??? Who puts sour cream in a breakfast burrito? Perhaps the order taker person heard me question the sour cream and left it out, or there was just enough to not notice, and make it “of the best breakfast burritos yet”. The first two bites caught me off guard. Perhaps it was the right amount of salt in the fries (potatoes) or the combination of the other ingredients. Good adequate size and the salsas given were ok, but did nothing to necessarily add to the flavors or textures.
I came back to this leftover burrito later this morning after our first victorious match. Still good at car...
