One day many, many years ago, my daughter and I were looking for a place to eat and we just walked into this place, when it was known as Pasta Primavera in San Mateo, California. Little did we know, what a gem we found! The food was so heavenly that we had to bring Dad back for dinner that very night!
They had a dish there they used to call Veal Marsala and they changed it to Veal Saltimboca... another of the family's favorite was an appetizer that had salmon, fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, purple onions, fresh basil, capers with a wonderfully simple vinaigrette... and another signature dish was a seafood pasta dish that was a classic, with clams, crab, shrimp, scallops in a light fresh red marinara sauce... Let's face it... everything on the menu was so delicious and satisfying!
It became one of our favorite dining places! We brought the entire family there! We would use it for business meetings. Everyone knew us! And one day, they were gone! My entire family was so sad!
My dentist moved from out of the area, to San Ramon. After working on me, he said he wanted me to go eat something right away because it would help my system get rid of the novocaine! Eating was the last thing I felt like doing ... even though I had very little to eat all day! But like a good patient, I followed his advice! Besides, I knew my poor husband had very little to eat and I couldn't see him waiting until we got home! Home is a good hour or more... maybe longer... because it of the traffic at that hour and crossing the bridge... I was going to have a Hangry Husband by the time we got home!
I saw this place called Primavera Ristorante and I thought why not? I will just try some soup! Suddenly I looked around and when they brought the bread and homemade rich marinara sauce to put on the freshly baked bread... I knew suddenly things looked very familiar to me! And when I saw the menu, with similar dishes... my husband said no way... because the name of the restaurant is different! It's no longer Pasta Primavera... it's just Primavera Ristorante! And I said... what were the chances? We asked the server ... and sure enough!! This was our old favorite restaurant of all time!!! While the name has changed... and there are some small changes to the menu... it is still in existence!! Those comforting delectable dishes are still available for us to enjoy!!
It may be a bit of a drive for us... but we think it's still worth it!! Even though I just had dental work... and I initially not in the mood to eat... I did it!! I ordered my all time favorite dish... the Veal Saltimboca!! And I ate what I could!!
Of course ... I texted my daughter, who originally helped me find this place... which had only been open a week when we first walked through those doors! And of course ... she was sad but she knows Mom always keeps her word!! A Mommy promise is a Mommy Promise! And we will all go back ... no matter how far ... to enjoy this place! And even though it was a week night... it was packed in there!!! Just like it was years ago... when it was located in San Mateo!!
So if you want a nice, upscale dining experience ... whether its a romantic evening with just you and your honey... or your entire family... I highly recommend this restaurant!! You'll love the service! Very...
Read moreWould have been a 5 star if the front desk didn't nearly turn us away(after a rather awkward up and down look). She said there were no tables and none coming anytime soon (maybe because we have tattoos /alt. style) were kinda used to it out here.. San ramon/ dublin is pretty intolerant. But we will skip past that unpleasant introduction.
The atmosphere: beautiful and festive for Christmas time. A lovely place for a family and or romantic night out. Someone defenently put their heart into decorating this spot.
The service: sharply dressed and very professional for the most part we were very pleased by the front of the house presence.
The food: Oh Lord! Back of the house is on fire, truly the best pasta I've had in the area (points for the line!) I've worked the hot line for years and I was a pleasure to watch this team dance.
We started with the mussels in a delightful cream sauce and it was truly a treat. These mussels were meaty and you could really tell they were locally sourced.
We then had plates of pasta (all were amazing) and ended the night with some sweet treats. Overall it was 5/5 mostly and I will and have returned since, I've even brought my parents (they loved it). I'll admit I found this review in my drafts so this might not be as current last time I was there was 6 months ago but by all means go and enjoy yourself! If you've gotten this far thank you for the...
Read moreI think I've been hypnotized by this restaurant! 🥹Since my cousin and I dined at Primavera Saturday night, I have been unable to stop thinking -- or drooling -- about the succulant lamb shanks we were served. The meat didn't just fall off the bone after the lamb was slow-cooked for at least 8 hours, it seemed to move like butter, our first sign that we were about to enjoy a dish that was transformative. I never ever post restaurant reviews online. This is officially my first because I can not stop thinking about those shanks and when I can schedule my next meal at Primavera! So I don't too obsessed about my meal, the atmosphere was great and the staff was too, they even gave us our table, even though we missed our reservation by 30 minutes and the restaurant about to close for the night! Excellent team;...
