If you are hungry, and don't feel like paying for overpriced food at Cedar Point or TGI Fridays. I would suggest to get a stamp to come back and stop by some local restaurants. You will not be disappointed.

There is an good choice right around the corner, called Thirsty Pony. If you are looking for a great place to eat, then i would suggest to stop by downtown Sandusky. On Market St, right in between Columbus Ave and Jackson St, you will notice a bistro.

I stopped by J Bistro during the day to grab a quick lunch after i dropped off some friends at Cedar Point. I think i found a great new place for my future road trips to Cedar Point or Put-in-Bay. You cannot miss the Red, White and Blue sign that simply says OPEN.

The interior decor will make any woman, that came to Sandusky just for the roller-coaster rides, feel like she is underdressed for the occasion, but everyone is welcome as the server will nicely take you to a modest, but classy setup table, and offer you some wine to open even a greater appetite.

During my last visit i order "corn bisque" and "bistro burger". Bisque was great, creamy with some basil, and bacon which made the dish amazing. The burger was good, with caramelized onion and cedar cheese, but together with the bisque it was too sweet of a meal to have for lunch.

The service was great. Jeannette was a very professional and attentive server to all the clients. Even though she was the only server for that morning, she made sure everyone enjoyed their meal like they were at home. I enjoyed my meal but the highlight of my visit at J Bistro was Jeannette.

I will recommend to all my friends and family who come to Sandusky for the rides, to stop by J Bistro and enjoy much greater value meals then they would get around Cedar Point or...

This was once one of our favorite eateries. The food is still excellent, but the experience was disappointing. Three servers for only nine tables occupied should have been enough on a Saturday, but we waited too long to be seated (no hostess) and all three servers seemed unable to handle the workload. There was no bus staff.

We had made a reservation and told them it was our anniversary, but we were offered a tiny table next to an ice cold window as if we'd dropped in unexpectedly. She begrudgingly granted my request for a fourtop, claiming they were really busy (Really? Nine tables is less than half full)

Entrees start at $28 and the menu is pretty limited. The rolls were hot and delicious, the salmon, shrimp, scallops and steak were all excellent, but for the price the meals should come with a side salad. Dessert was not even offered, much less comped in honor of our special event, as would be the case at many other restaurants in the area.

This restaurant wants to be upscale and the staff is suitably attired, but the ambiencd is noisy, the clientele is younger and the dress clde is below casual. Old, low hanging jeans, hoodies, baseball caps, as if they were grabbing a burger at the corner bar. It made us uncomfortable in our better clothes on our special night.

We'll be looking for something more...

I can’t express just how amazing this place and its staff are! Yesterday we ended up on the patio of this amazing restaurant as a place to get food before heading down to the waterfront for the total eclipse, but ended up staying for the eclipse bc our server, Lyn, and the food were just too amazing to leave. Lyn was wonderfully attentive & accommodating and totally made the experience that much more enjoyable. She is truly amazing! The food was also fabulous and the patio seating could not have been a more perfect place to view the eclipse. In addition to great service and food, Susie, the manager, was so thoughtful and bought 200 hundred eclipse viewing glasses to give out to her staff and anyone who may not have been prepared and brought their own. The restaurant also set up a cute eclipse photo backdrop with a stage for people to take photos to commemorate the amazing astronomical event. All to say, this restaurant truly went above and beyond to make this already incredible moment in time even more fantastic & memorable. I cannot thank them enough! If you are ever in Sandusky, this restaurant is an absolute...

I wouldn’t classify this restaurant as fine dining. We went on a Friday night and it was an extremely loud cafeteria like atmosphere. Service was slow. We ordered shrimp tacos as an appetizer and it was covered in shredded cheddar cheese. I’ve never seen a shrimp taco at a served this way. We ordered steaks and when our food came out they said they were out of mashed potatoes and served us mashed sweet potatoes which we don’t like. The server did offer to bring fries, but they never came until we finished our meal. The steak was cooked nice and tasted good. But for the price we paid and the experience we had, it wasn’t worth it.

We had a wonderful experience at J Bistro on our Cedar Point trip. The food was fantastic and the setting was cozy and comfortable. Dress code leans more towards cocktail attire, but casual would be fine. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor patio, but it looked to be a great experience on summer evenings with live music. The only slight ding in rating was that the service was a little slow, but what's the rush? Enjoy the experience.

We think this is the best restaurant in downtown Sandusky. Staff is kind and consistently good. The patio with live music is so fun. We’ve seen a singer-guitarist on two occasions. We’ve also been there in the winter when it’s decked out with a pretty Christmas tree. Wonderful food! Apps are fantastic! We loved the street corn dip and the crab cake special!
