Today just wasn't Mojaves best night. Reserved several days ago, party of 4. This was our 3rd time there. The first 2 times were amazing, so why would this be any different. When we sat down, I got up and spoke to a gentleman employee who was at the hostess section and explained its my wifes birthday and if it was possible to get a candle or something on her dessert. He said it's no problem at all, he mentioned they could write Happy Birthday on the plate and put a candle. I thanked him and handed him a note that I had prepared explaining what I had just told him in person, he said he would give it to our server.... I went back to the table..Ordered some of the same items from last time. Neither of our 2 wine selections were available, our 3rd selection wasn't either. My wife settled on one of the 3 they did have. When it was brought to the table our server apologized it wasn't in a wine glass, said they were out of wine glasses. I glanced over at the bar where there were several hanging there, but that's fine. Simple oversight, I guessed. Got our food, the food was great. Well cooked, well presented, good portions... It had been a while since anyone came by the table. I couldn't get anyone's attention, so got up with my water glass and went to the bar to ask for some more water. Got it and went back. Our server had been at the side bar chatting with the bartender and must have noticed because she quickly brought over a bottle of water for the table..... It was time for dessert. We ordered the same as last time, the Flan with coffee ice cream and the Tres Leche with salted caramel.
When they arrived the Tres Leche had coffee ice cream...... my wife hates coffee ice cream, there was no getting anyone's attention so I headed to the bar where our server was to let her know. She quickly picked it up and brought out a new one with the correct flavor IC. No candle, no Happy Birthday, nothing. A disappointment. My kids asked at that point where Moms birthday cake or anything. I let my wife know the surprise was no more. In conclusion..... food is great, atmosphere is cool but attention to the customers needs and service in general is lacking and a total departure from last December when we were there last and raved about every single thing....
Read moreI wanted to love this place so bad but I guess maybe it just wasn’t my night. My fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner. Upon arriving, we wanted to valet but no one was present at the time and we were running late for our reservation so we self parked. We were taken right to our seats after deciding to dine outside. Our server, Catalina was very sweet but our food and drinks took quite some time. We knew it wasn’t her fault so we were patient and she also apologized for the delay. Our appetizer finally came with our drinks which were great. We had the blue cornbread, white peach sangria and a Rio Suave. My entree was an open face Mexican torta. First few bites were pretty good. The sweet bread was a bit much on the sweet side but still good until I went for another bite. I bit down on something so hard, maybe an eggshell idk it was horrible. Almost felt like a little small rock or something. I couldn’t finish my food because I lost appetite and the whole right side of my mouth was sore.
I hate to be that person that has an issue with their food so I chose not to say anything but my fiancé thought it best to alert our server so we did. I told her I didn’t want to make a big deal about it but I was honestly in pain. It felt like a horrible toothache and it lasted for a few days. My disappointment came from the fact that our server said she mentioned it to management but no one came to speak to us nor apologize. A little customer service goes a long way.
My fiancé also made sure to advise the host during the reservation that it was birthday but nothing was done to honor it. Oh but we did see dessert with a lit candle brought out for a table behind us. May not mean much to most but I left upset, in pain disappointed and hungry. I’ve always heard so many great things about Mojave and we had even made plans to return for brunch while waiting on our food to come out. However after my birthday was ruined, I’d say I...
Read moreSo I usually don’t even leave reviews like this but this definitely needs to be addressed, especially for the price of this place. I’ve drove past this location a few times and every time I look at this restaurant, I thought it was so beautiful and wanted to try there. Well tonight was that night. The food was HORRIBLE. I ordered the CALAMARES FRESCOS as an appetizer. It was very chewy and the breading was very soggy. I didn’t even eat it and it’s ($17) I ordered the CHURRASCO STEAK FRITES for dinner($38) It only comes with one side so I ordered the mashed potatoes and added a side of some grilled vegetables (i forget exactly what it’s called) the steak was HORRIBLE I ordered it medium, it came out well done, and it was very chewy and tough, as far as the mashed potatoes I have never had thicker mashed potatoes in my life, with chunks of under cooked potatoes in there, the texture was awfullll, and the vegetable tasted like they came out of frozen bag. After, I decided to order desert because I was still hungry as I barely ate any of the food. I ordered the cheesecake. It was very dry and spongy and they left a GIANT PIECE OF PLASTIC UNDERNEATH THAT I ALMSOT ATE!! I told the waitress about it and told her she needed to remove this off of my bill and also the calamari because it was awful and obviously I didn’t eat any. She did remove it but honestly from how bad the meal was and how big the plastic was they should’ve given me the meal for free but they offered me a free desert. I declined the desert at this point because why would I want any more of this horrible food. The only thing good about this place is it’s pretty. Very disappointing. Oh and btw literally MORE THEN HALF of the items u see online are NOT even on the menu! The menu is EXTREMELY small! I added a pic of the giant piece of plastic that came with my cheesecake below...
