Today is Tuesday, Feb 27th, 2024, Our first time at this buffet, 4:30pm, the hubby and I, the place was clean, ladies restroom was clean, even with a language barrier, our server was nice and attentive, and cleared our finished plates quickly, checked for drink refills and brought extra napkins, the food was very good, a lot of various foods, Chinese & American, and a plentiful dessert bar too, the hibachi grill was open so I made a plate for the cook to grill, that was also very good.. The hot buffet foods were well heated, the cold areas, cold and iced, everything was fresh and tastey, nothing looked old or dried out, we both ate our fill and 5 hours later, NO signs of food poisoning as others have claimed in reviews. We would recommend this restaurant for sure and will be definitely be going back when we're craving Chinese food. 😋 We're an older couple and I waitressed for 15+ years, we've dined at some pretty good places and some pretty bad places, but truthfully speaking, we can't find anything negative to say. The only downside is, most Chinese Restaurants or any restaurant in general, you pay after you're done and ready to leave.. Here you pay upfront just like it was when it was a Bonnaza years ago. Accepts all the major credit cards, cash, NO checks as per the sign. Paying ahead, and putting the tip on before even being seated, that is limiting how much we want to tip our server when we could tip more after our meal based on the service we receive vs leaving a 'general' tip amount. I would strongly suggest they change that, I'm sure the servers would appreciate that, and customers who tip based on server quality would like it too, we live in a 'card' world and most ppl don't carry cash, so these servers are stuck with either no tip or a general/minimal when paying up front. That's the only thing...
Read moreFood was pretty good ,especially for around dubois. Really good flavor. Atmosphere was little cramped for my liking even though it wasn't full of people when I was there booths and tables are backed up to each other ,booths back to back qith tables crammed down a middle aisle in the section we were seated in there did appear to me other seating areas that were more open though. Hibachi was not up or open so that was a let down and yet the price was not reduced even though that is something g that is usually included in the price of buffet ( 2my knowledge,n I'm going off what the sign said). We paid like 45$ for 2adults and a kid under 2yr. She was no charge kids to a certain age are, which is always nice bc I'm let's face it ,they're picky eaters. Most anyway. Only issue I have ,we had was trying to figure out exactly y we were charged that much ,of course it wasn't a huge deal but at 18$ an adult, 2adults so 36$ , I had hot tea, which was served table side in a pot type deal,he had a unsweetened tea and kiddo had chocolate milk, which was a large cup like 16oz 👍, but still ,it's was either 9$ for that which is OK I guess but he did have 2get his own refill was never offered it by server. Bc we weren't given an itemized receipt we don't know if it was a tip added or if drinks were 3$ each. And like I said considering a main selling point was down ,yk transparency in pricing is always nice . If not key. Still overall the food was really good everything else Lind of blah and lackluster if not a bit confusing. But we came to eat and went...
Read moreThe food is okay-- better on some days than others like any Chinese buffet. I would not recommend their current weekend seafood setup, though. There are crab claws of a few kinds but no claws crackers, so it's a very challenging and messy ordeal. They've also got a bunch of extra seafood items that don't fit in the stream table pans, so they're balanced on plates between the panda of the steam table. This accomplishes a few things: it makes cross contamination of shellfish items with the things that would normal be safest for allergic people was more likely, it takes away the metal space where the serving utensils' handles normally rest, so the handles of all the foods in the back are in or on the pans of food in the front, and I'd be willing to bet it keeps those items on the played just warm enough to breed bacteria while not being hot enough for safe keeping. I suppose if you're really into trying a huge variety of low quality shellfish items, it's worth a shot. One steam table also seemed to be set too cool today, so the eggrolls, cheese wontons, and other items in that row were not nearly as warm as the other foods. The restaurant seems to have gone down hill in the past year or so, and I'm not sure I'll go back. (I get the impression they're struggling financially, because they've now got skill game machines, a claw machine, a coin operated kiddie ride, and a bunch of novelty items for sale near the lobby-- it's like having a tiny flea market to go with your meal, if...
