I’ve given The Bean Yard several chances because the coffee itself is solid—but the customer service has consistently been a major letdown. The baristas are awkward, unprofessional, and frankly rude more often than not. It’s surprising how little effort is made to provide even the most basic level of friendly service.

On my most recent visit, the barista spilled my drink and had to remake it, but instead of handling it professionally, she loudly cursed multiple times in a very busy shop. Everyone around looked uncomfortable. This same individual has been unpleasant on multiple occasions, offering zero customer interaction and consistently giving off an attitude like she doesn't want to be there.

To make matters worse, on a previous visit, she was playing extremely inappropriate music—something you’d expect at a nightclub, not a local coffeehouse with kids present. I’m not overly sensitive about music, but it was jarring and out of place.

It's disappointing to see a good product undermined by staff who don’t reflect the values of a welcoming coffeehouse. I genuinely hope management takes these issues seriously, because The Bean Yard has potential—but right now, it’s being...

After visiting the Bean Yard a few times, I've come up with a list of my favorite things about it. The service is outstanding! The baristas are always very friendly and have offered on multiple occasions to remake my drink if it is not to my liking (I have never had to take them up on it!) and every employee I have interacted with has been genuinely concerned with making my experience as great as possible. I was once accidentally overcharged for one of my transactions and it was promptly fixed without me even asking, and I was brought an avocado toast on the house. THE COFFEE!! This place is the real deal. They offer high quality coffee that is carefully selected and brewed to perfection. The specialty drinks I've tried here have been nothing short of amazing, especially the Chai and the Cold Toddy! Although the drinks are on the pricier side, the quality makes it worth every penny in my opinion. I can't wait to see what they come up with for the Fall season! The overall vibe and aesthetic of the Bean Yard is perfect- it's clean and simple, making it a great place for everything from catching up with a friend to quiet study. Thanks for bringing great...

I typically love this coffee shop. Being someone who's worked in specialty coffee for years, I've thought they have done a great job. I've spent hundreds of $ here to show it.

I came in today more than an hour before close and was told I would have to take my cortado in a togo cup. I expressed I'd prefer to have it in a glass, but wasn't going to protest further. But I am disappointed at the service of the barista and her attitude about my request to enjoy a cortado in a simple glass. Additionally, my small 4oz togo cortado was scolding hot.

I've experienced nothing but good products and service before now, so I'm sure this won't be the norm. However, as someone who trained in third wave coffee and managed multiple coffee shops, this is not an ideal/acceptable experience for anyone in my opinion.

In response to Eugene: I can understand the training bit, however there were a full stack of Gibraltars on the espresso machine, so whoever told you that lied to you. Second, her attitude was more of an issue...

My wife and I were very excited to find this shop/roastery in our neighborhood in South SLC. I'll try to give a quick rundown of what makes this place great. 1. They roast a small selection of single origins in-house. You can get a siphon or a V60, and both options taste great. Plus with less origins, you can tell they've put a lot of care into the quality of their beans and roasting. 2. They do offer a wider variety of espresso drinks. Tried their cappuccino and it was just the way I like it. 3. The decor and "feel" of the shop is spot-on. I believe they said the owners came from LA, so if you like the west coast vibe in your shop then you'll love this place. 4. Pastries were also delicious. 5. The staff were incredibly friendly. Everyone was excited to see us and was knowledgeable about the coffee and brewing processes. Anyone will feel at home here.
