L & P recently opened in the small shopping center located next to the Sandy DI. It is a smallish spot, with no seating (or maybe one table in the corner? I cannot recall), but many shelves and cases displaying all manner of sweet and savory baked goods. I've now stopped by a couple times, and while their glass cases generally near empty, whatever is contained inside will be delicious. My absolute favorite is the crepe cake, with a crisp crème brûlée style top, slight citrus flavor, and perfect cake to filling ratio. The tiramisu is also fantastic, with light rum and coffee flavors that do not overwhelm, as is often the case. Maybe a touch of cinnamon, too? The filling is custardy, but fluffy, with a thick, slightly crunchy ladyfinger crust. I have also had several yummy cookies, and nothing is ever too sweet. Sadly, I always seem to arrive too late for the chocolate cupcakes, which have now reached a near epic status in my imagination. In fact, the only complaint I can really make is that I wish there were more chocolate treats. However, I know that's not popular at Asian bakeries, so I can't say much!
I have not tried any of the savory items, but many are offered, filled with a variety of meats, even egg! I've spied towering squishy loaves of white bread, and even elusive and trendy egg tarts, fluffy Japanese cheesecake, and mooncakes. There is a small cooler filled with basic soft drinks like Coke and Sprite, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you chose that over the myriad teas with several options of boba and toppings, plus slushies and coffees, too! Lastly, they have made to order cakes in SO MANY flavors and sizes.
Each time I've visited, the same young man has assisted me, and he is so friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and just generally being lovely and cheerful. Prices are standard bakery cost for the area, some items a bit lower.
I did not realize until recently, that this is an offshoot of the bakery originating in Ocean Mart! I am sad to think I have walked by that restaurant many times and never stopped to take a gander. Oh, the delicious treats missed out on! Guess I'll just have to make up...
Read moreL&P Bakery and Cafe is an absolute gem for those seeking authentic Vietnamese bread and pastries. The bakery has garnered a reputation for its high-quality, fresh, and mouth-watering offerings that will leave your taste buds in a state of bliss.
One of the standout items on their menu is the cream bread, which is a must-try for anyone visiting the bakery. The bread is perfectly baked and filled with a delicious, creamy custard that's just the right amount of sweetness. The coconut bread, which is soft and pillowy with just the right amount of coconut flavor. Unlike many other bakeries that often overdo the sweetness, L&P Bakery and Cafe strikes the perfect balance in its baked goods, making them a true delight to indulge in. Another fan favorite is their almond cookies, they are a true delight and another highlight of their menu. These cookies have a perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness, with a delicate crunch that makes them irresistible.
Aside from their bread and pastries, L&P Bakery and Cafe also offers a variety of refreshing boba drinks. Read moreThis cute little bakery knocks you off your feet when you see the menu and try some of the dishes. It’s a bakery cafe but also dim sum and delicious Chinese dishes. Everything is so authentic and the girls up front are so knowledgeable about why the dish is good for you. The wise woman in the back cooks authentic cuisine and comes out to talk to the girls and it is so cute and impressive. The youthful spin on the store attracts customers and the experienced chef keeps them coming back. I tried the Shanghai pork dumplings they were exquisite. I shared an order of clay pot rice with pork ribs and I was transported. it’s my new favorite shareable dish. We were informed that it took 30 minutes but it was so worth the wait and we had a drink and dim sum for appetizers. Their drinks are amazing my friend got a mango slush with mango jelly and I got a lemon black tea with passion fruit. Everything was phenomenal. The environment is so clean and cozy. I got a coffee cake on the way out. The only issue I had was the bakery prices were not clear and didn’t match but it didn’t really matter to me. Definitely check this hidden gem out!!!! Next time I’m getting a whole roast...
