Ok my goodness the bakery has the freaking BEST lemon poppyseed muffins! I live 6.8 miles away and i'm tempted to go before work! They also have affordable edible chocolate chip cookie dough... their cups of it is just $5... which is a steal compared to edible cookie dough bars.

The restaurant.... on we have been twice now. We still haven't tried dessert darn it. I want to try the 15 layer chocolate cake and the Settlers cake.... someday!!!

Service was freaking fantastic the first visit and attentive overall but kinda lackluster the second visit.

Side salads are great, fresh, and a good portion.

Chicken fried chicken is bombdiggity... their country gravy is fabulous!!! Bacon was cooked right. Mom loves the rolls.... they are soft and yeasty? But I didn't try them yet still. The fried zucchini (one of my favorites) is the slices or silver dollar type and beer battered... yum. They make their own ranch and blue cheese dressings... the ranch is yummmm the blue cheese kinda tastes the same so maybe more blue cheese??

The pot roast was like omg yummmmilicious... pull it apart without a knife and just your fork to mouth tender. Brown gravy was pretty good. Don't bother with mashed potatoes. They're ok just a classic scoop. Nothing to write home about.

And they had beef liver and onions with bacon. You don't find it often but my dad loves it and said it was good. So... take that for what is worth.

The decor is uber cute and old fashioned like I would imagine my grandma's :) that's a compliment. The place is deceivingly large inside.

We...

Came here for my birthday dinner. My BF had heard about it and thought it would be fun. We got here around 6 pm on a Thursday night. The place was dead, pre-dinner rush, just us and a few other tables of early birds. We walked around the bakery/gift shop a little and talked about coming back during the day sometime to look around. We went to the restaraunt and were seated quickly. I ordered the chicken pot pie with a baked potato, BF ordered the mac & cheese brisket dinner. It took a while to get our food. My dinner was a let down, it looked very elaborate but tasted very blah, the potato was inedible. My BF's dinner was better but nothing fantastic. Still, we probably would have tried to come back but the service was kind of rude. The server forgot our rolls, no big deal, we asked for them and she brought them. The server came and asked if we needed boxes, neither of us had finished even half our food yet, we still had forks in hand, we told her no, she walked away. Literally minutes later she came back and asked if she could start clearing plates. I told her I was still eating and she walked away again. After that we were pretty much done with the idea we would ever come back. Nothing worse than a restaraunt making you feel like you aren't welcome. It wasn't even busy yet, a few tables had just started to trickle in for dinner. Anyway, bland food, cold service. I...

I want to like this place for breakfast but can't.

Best thing going for it is that It's easy to get a table. After that, good luck. Waiting for stuff and coffee refills are problems. I'd reccomment looking at the menu online and ordering food and coffee right when you see the waitress for the first time...this will likely keep your experience at 1- 1.25 hours.....

TIP- if you can't find a waitress for a coffee refill... just take your cups to the kitchen and fill' em up yourself. If you got kids , word of warning ... this place serves booze and sometimes some patrons are dropping F bombs while on their 4th Bloody Mary. When it takes 45plus minutes to get a simple order of Biscuits and Gravey it can make the natives restless ... thus the booze.

Food-wise if you hate your food piping hot, you've come to the right place. No lawsuits here for things too hot. Also, nothing spectacular taste-wise either. It's eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes as main ingredients ... I often wonder if when you order, they run to McDonalds and get the food and bring it back as the reason for it taking so long.

The biscuits are good ... order those for an original item.

I really want to like this place because there is lots of potential ... of just had too many recent sub par experiences over the last 18 months for breakfast to really give this anything but 1...

Right off Hwy 26 headed East towards Mt. Hood. We love this spot. It’s always a little busy so I suggest calling ahead for sandwiches. We usually do this on the way to Timothy lake for a picnic. Or in the morning in the way to Mt hood meadows or Timberline. #oregon #snow #mthood #bakery #fyfyfyfy

I've been loving this place since my first visit in 2011,but we have had a disappointing experience today. Before we were seated,I asked if it was ok if we sat in that bigger and brighter room, the hostess said it is a different section and took us to the dingy looking room with the fireplace I personally don't like. I thought maybe they just wanted to keep all the customers in one room for the waitresses' convenience, but when I passed by that big room,I saw quite a few customers sitting there hmm I had requested where I'd like to sit before and it was never an issue. I ordered what I like on the menu the most-an impressive looking and delicious French toast. Well, today it was pathetic,a shadow of what it used to be. Here are some pictures for comparison. I hope it was a bad toast day and they haven't started cutting corners... All in all,it is 2 stars for now (my previous rating was 5),I'd give 1 for my today's experience, but I am adding an extra star as a benefit of a doubt, hoping they will improve as I love The Tollgate Inn and I know for a fact it can be awesome!

Sufficient. That's what I can describe this place. When I went there for lunch on a Sunday, it was busy. Real busy. That is possibly why my food took a long time for me to receive. I had ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs which didn't have a whole lot of flavor. On the bright side, the plate was huge! The servers were friendly and took care of us the best and quickest they could. The dining areas seemed clean and that is important for many people reading reviews. What WASN'T clean was the spoon that I got. There was debris on it. That kind of stuff happens but the staff needs to be more mindful of their utensils before they place them. I would go here again but not during a busy time such as lunch on a Sunday.
