I'm really sorry to give such a LOW LOW rating because the people are so nice and very kind but...it's the food being reviewed not the people.
I'm sorry but that just wasn't good food at all!
First off, I ordered their breakfast waffle taco...it's not a taco! It's not as the picture appears to be in a hard shell and have a crunchy texture! It's a soggy waffle! Might have worked a little bit if the waffle was at least crunchy?
The ingredients say it has bacon, cheese and egg...but in truth, its mostly 99% egg! I'd be willing to bet there isn't the equivalent of even one half of a piece of bacon in it!
Next I went for " The Bowl " their portions are great! Again it has eggs, spinach, onion, tomato, mushrooms, bacon, cheese and sausage and potatoes with a biscuit on the side in it..I chose the gravy for my sauce.
I know it sounds interesting and all, that's why I ordered it, but it doesn't taste interesting. It just had a funky taste, and I think it was the gravy??
Their gravy doesn't have a normal sausage gravy flavor to it! I don't know what seasonings they put into it but, it's not tasty. Sometimes you don't have to try to be extravagant to fix up a classic, just do it right.
And the biscuit I had was really really dry! And again, not sure what they did or added, but it had a different taste to it?? It's just my opinion but, if you going to put a bunch of ingredients in something like that you should put them proportioned out so that you can taste each one of them!
I don't think you need spinach and a bunch of weird seasonings into a good ol American breakfast! It may sound healthy, but you are having sausage gravy after all!
I wouldn't worry about the health part of it. For the most part, some things should just be left as they should be.
But that's just me. It would be like trying to have some Opera guy sing Thunderstruck! It would have to be really amazing to put that kind of spin on that kind of classic and have it come out good! And there's nothing amazing coming out of this "Breakfast In The Hood" truck, sorry.
I think a better name for this place should be "Hip In The Hood" I honestly do, that way people would kinda be ready for something different? Really friendly and nice...
Read moreLet me first start out by saying, we came all the way from the Couve to try this place and it was well worth the drive! I had to try the Bluberry Lavendar Mimosa. It was pleasant and delicious. We decided to share a burrito because we heard they are huge. Yup, we both felt full after eating our halves. Now this is not just any run of the mill breakfast burrito. This burrito ruined it for me wanting to ever have a breakfast burrito anyway else. The egg, bacon, potatoes and cheese was perfection in every bite. You know even when you get to the end of it and most burritos are just tortilla with nothing in it that you end up just tossing? Well, the last bites were the best with cheese perfectly melted into the crevices...yum. We opted to get the gravy on the side. I never had gravy in a burrito. Let me tell you, I could have eaten that gravy by itself if I had a spoon. It was that amazing. We also got a biscuit and jam. Husband was impressed with the strawberry jam and he is VERY picky about his jam. The biscuit was the perfect blend of moist and flaky at the same time and bonus points that it looked like they threw it on the grill for the perfect amount of time too. We are already planning for our next Breakfast in the Hood! Think I want to try the bowl next time, but I'll be thinking about the Kicker...
Read moreThere are a few great menu items available. You can even order a mimosa with your breakfast from this food truck. However while there are a few tasty dishes on the menu, there are a few less than appetizing choices.
I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. Reasonably priced and its HUGE! I can only get through half and it hold up well though I skip the cheese sauce. Just a personal preference in this dish.
The breakfast sandwiches on sourdough have some issues. The bread becomes very soggy rather quickly from the condiments. I think the bread is supposed to be toasted, which would help tremendously. The aluminum foil only speeds up the soggy process and makes the overall taste of the dish unappealing. The sandwich comes with your choice of meats, eggs, cheeses and a cheese sauce. On this dish I'd order it dry with the condiments on the side.
Other menu items I've tried are a little too greasy or for my tastes. The french toast sticks on the other hand are dry and look like they are using a regular, store bought white bread. The bread they use is pretty thin and I...
